In 1970, entrepreneurs David and Barbara Green, along with their young family, began making miniature picture frames in their garage. A few years later, on August 3, 1972, the Green family opened the first Hobby Lobby store with a mere 300 square feet of retail space. Hobby Lobby has not stopped growing since.
Summary
Managers are directly accountable for the overall condition and operation of their assigned area of the warehouse.
Responsibilities
* Implement and support the policies and practices that are consistent with the philosophy of the company. * Improve the operational excellence through the training and motivation of the employees both hourly and salary. * Evaluate processes/procedures with the goal of potential improvements through suggestions and recommendations. * Potential involvement in studies to improve operational efficiency of the entire Distribution System. * Primary role to manage efficiently and ensure orders are pulled timely and accurately for delivery to the stores. * Oversee all aspects of freight receiving, order filling, safety and organization. * Oversee any other area of responsibility that may be temporarily or permanently assigned.

**EXPECTATIONS** * The following expectations should be understood within the first 90 days of employment: **Culture:** * To understand and comply with the company’s mission statement. * To motivate and mentor the associates under your supervision through encouragement and positive reinforcement. * To operate your area of responsibility in a consistent manner with a servant’s attitude towards the Merchandise Buyers, the Stores and their Associates, your managers, and your employees. * To maintain and teach a “Can Do” attitude at all times. * To recognize that improvement is based on today’s performance compared to our past performances. * To realize that the constantly changing environment in which you work has been, is, and always will be a work in progress. **Human Resources:** * Understand the Human Resources process for both hourly and salaried employees from the hiring process through the end of employment. **Operational:** * Understand ALL aspects of your area of responsibility within the operation. * To constantly strive to improve the efficiency and accuracy of all functions in your area of responsibility. **Intellectual:** * Understand and utilize the intellectual tools provided to you in order to manage and improve your area of responsibility. **Relational:** * To recognize how all areas and associates of the Distribution Center relate to and depend on each other to operate efficiently. * Make a difference by having a positive ongoing effect on your surroundings. **Job Description** - Requirements **Education:** High School Diploma/G.E.D. **Experience:** 5-10 years practical experience. **Physical:** * Physical activity ranging from walking, standing, climbing, lifting, and the ability to be ‘Hands On’ as needed. * Understand the importance of daily SAFETY in all areas. * Must pass a drug test. * Must pass a background check. * Must pass a pre-employment test **COMPETENCIES** * Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel software applications * End-user experience in AS400/Green Screen applications is a plus.
