Summary
The Business Analyst is responsible for the analysis, development and applicable support of business process and software solutions. The Business Analyst operates as a liaison between Ferguson/Wolseley’s business groups/departments and the Information Technology department.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the gathering of user requirements and the development of a detailed requirements document suitable for both business review and code development. * Research and explore user requirements, costs and benefits in support of documentation required for the demand management process. * Serves as a team lead for other business analysts. * In the Business Analyst capacity, plays a lead project team role in large, complex projects. * Interact with associates from the business to understand business strategies, future initiatives to determine future process / solution needs. * Responsible for analyzing the business needs to identify new processes or process improvements that will meet those needs. * Analyze detailed systems factors including input/output requirements, information and paper flow, hardware and software needs. * Analyze “soft” systems factors including: roles, responsibilities, policy, culture, etc. * Evaluate the impact of potential software and process changes on the organization. * Develop and facilitate groups as necessary in pursuit of eliciting and defining requirements. * Create detailed business requirements documents, process flow documentation (“as is” and “to be”) and software functional design. * Create business case documentation on behalf of business stakeholder and in support of initiatives involving software solutions
Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years in the business analyst or similar field * Bachelor’s degree and 5 - 7 yrs of general business experience preferred * Strong PC skills with specifics towards all Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Project and Visio * Expertise or background in functional area * Experience with HR projects required * Some PeopleSoft HR experience preferred * Possess general business and technical knowledge * Strong analytical skills * Able to work effectively in technical and business environments * Experienced in aspects of systems and process design and development * Project oriented/Uses a structured methodology to problem solving * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with all levels of associates * Inquisitive/Proactive * Facilitation/able to work with groups to get things done * Receptive to some travel (education, project pilot, training, site visits, etc.) * Open minded about alternative solutions, not constrained by the way processes have always worked within any particular company * Ability to work on simultaneous projects * Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in the use of basic analysis/interview skills * Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in writing * Demonstrate good communications and presentation skills * High degree of leadership and basic project management skills in solving problems and exploiting opportunities
