DICK’S Sporting Goods was founded in 1948 when an 18 year-old Dick Stack was working at an Army surplus store in Binghamton, New York. An avid fisherman, Dick was approached by the store owner to come up with a list of products needed to get into the fishing tackle business.
Summary
The User Experience Design (UX) team is responsible for creating digital experiences that connect our customers with the equipment they need to perform at their best. Our UX team is made-up of a group of talented individuals who are passionate about how design, research, business and technology intersect and enable great experiences. Collaboration, communication and creativity are our foundations while interaction design, information architecture, prototyping and research are our primary tools. In this hands-on role, the User Experience Manager will oversee UX team members, build internal partnerships, champion data-driven design and demonstrate thoughtful and agile working methods in the delivery of digital experiences for Dick's Sporting Good's brands and platforms.
Responsibilities
* Manage and mentor a team of UX and UI Designers Lead UX design efforts for projects from inception through launch * Create design solutions that address consumer, business, brand and technology requirements * Develop a range of UX design deliverables including sketches, wireframes, flows and prototypes * Provide insights, oversight and direction for UX designers in the completion of design deliverables * Identify and implement processes, procedures and standards that improve work quality while increasing speed to market * Develop customer research approaches, facilitate and lead usability testing, analyze results and translate actionable recommendations into design solutions * Contribute to optimization testing (e.g. A/B and multivariate) and testing approaches Effectively communicate conceptual ideas, interaction models and the design rationale for your work Formulate strong relationships with product managers, business stakeholders and web/app developers to deliver final products Facilitate a shared design vision within the UX team and across the groups with which we collaborate and serve Contribute to a fun, driven, creative and collaborative environment
Ideal Candidate
* BA/BS degree in design communication, user experience design, human-computer interaction or related fields * Five to seven years designing experiences across multiple platforms especially including e-commerce/transactional sites and applications * A strong online portfolio that clearly demonstrates design innovation and expertise * Experience managing and mentoring individuals and teams * Demonstrated ability in creating design deliverables including information architecture diagrams, wireframes, conceptual sketches, prototypes and screen flows * Knowledge and experience with prototyping and prototyping tools (e.g. Axure, Invision) * Demonstrated experience with consumer research methods * Experience working directly with business stakeholders * Ability to clearly present design approaches to wide-ranging audiences (e.g. business, product management and technology teams) * Demonstrated ability managing projects including prioritizing tasks and managing team deadlines * Ability to understand and act upon numerous product requirements while maintaining attention to detail * Passion and enthusiasm for sports and fitness preferred but not required
