Responsibilities
The UX Design Manager will be responsible for leading Verizon Wireless workforce facing user experience and user interface design projects, and working with partners from requirements phase through production delivery. They will enforce the processes and standards established by the UX Design Team. The typical project spans multiple Verizon organizations and this position requires strong leadership, coordination and clear communication across the teams. The UX Design Manager is responsible for all aspects of the design delivery; from information architecture, wireframe designs, UI design, prototypes and audits of production builds in HTML or native mobile platforms. * Establish information architecture to document and outline expected organization and behavior of product experience. * Analyze and Establish UX architecture, relationship between multi-screen experiences, and over-see end-to-end designs * Evaluate proposed business solutions and oversee alignment with the end user experience * Develop UX frameworks to enable the delivery of business functions and UX components * Create UX documents, designing the detailed screens for an entire experience, as a visual blueprint for the requirements documentation. * Review UX with multiple teams and making necessary edits to accommodate technical or business concerns. * Create prototypes of UX for further analysis and testing. * Review final visual design with UI Design and Front-end lead to validate designs. Once HTML and development teams have built alpha version of product begin weekly audits and feedback to development groups to ensure that the product aligns with what was agreed upon. * Educate business teams and development team members about UX best practices and conventions * Communicate the business value of UX solutions * Partner with usability team to test experiences and identify issues * Manage and coordinate user research and ethnographic studies/observations * Run usability surveys to identify customer needs and prioritize functionality for the experience * Provide mutually beneficial solutions while recognizing different approaches yet still protecting the end user experience * Plan, coordinate and direct work among team members * Manage the performance of employees, including setting objectives, assessing performance, placing employees on performance improvement plans and recommending disciplinary action * Recommend hiring and pay increases of employees * Partner with stakeholders to establish objectives and business goals for the product. * Provide project plans scoping the estimated time necessary to deliver project. * Analyze available information regarding customer interactions and market competitors.
Ideal Candidate
Qualifications * B.S. in related area or equivalent work experience * 10+ years of UX Design and UX/design team lead experience. * A solid understanding of Responsive Design methodologies, and experience designing web applications. * Proven experience delivering complex projects. * Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills. * Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (both written and verbal) at varied levels within an organization. * Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. * Eagerness to learn, understand and apply new technologies. * Natural tendency to seek and explore design and technology trends for interactive experiences. * Ability to analyze and document design processes and independently identify opportunities for improvement. * Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter; applicant must be able to push ahead with design projects and drive progress with little oversight. * Ability to work effectively both independently, and within a team. * Demonstrated capabilities for creativity and innovation. * Possess a high level of knowledge and proficiency with Adobe CC Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop a must) * Experience with all phases of the UX Design Lifecycle, including ideation/brainstorming, information architecture, flow diagrams and mapping, wireframes, user interface design/production, front-end development and auditing Desired Skills: * Ability to translate UX into final polished UI Design. * Ability to build prototypes in Axure * Masters Degree in Interactive Design or Human Factors.
