Serve as primary project manager for the Communications Office to coordinate publications, multimedia, campaigns, and special events for Housing & Dining Services

Plan, budget, track, and assess communications projects

Work closely with Housing & Dining Services directors to balance project requests with available resources, department needs and departmental/university priorities; strategize and develop solutions to challenges and opportunities that arise
-
Implement Housing & Dining Services project management system for major communications projects and use internal project calendar software/system for smaller communications projects to track and report status
-
Supervision of Project Management team including an Administrative Professional Communications Coordinator and student staff interns
-
Provide research, writing, and editing for publications, press releases, web pages, newsletters, informational campaigns, and other official communications

Work collaboratively with the Director of Communications and office leadership team to develop strategic marketing and public relations campaigns to meet departmental communications objectives
-
Assist the Director of Communications with media relations and serve as the back-up on call staff member for crisis communication and after-hours emergencies
-
Represent the Director of Communications at management meetings and committees in the director’s absence
-
Understand and incorporate concepts of diversity, social justice, and sustainability into projects, events, and programs
-
Participate in continuing education activities that enhance professional knowledge and technical skills
-
Take a leadership role in drafting budgets, goals, and timelines
-
Take a leadership role in staff and interdepartmental meetings
-
Serve on appropriate University committees

Assist with varied duties as assigned; some events and programs do occur on evenings and weekends

Bachelor of Science/Arts degree in communications, public relations, or marketing with a minimum of five years of experience OR
-
Bachelor of Science/Arts degree in unrelated field with a minimum of seven years’ experience in the communications field
-
Demonstrated project management experience
-
Experience in supervision and evaluation of staff
-
Master of Science/Art degree in related field preferred and can be substituted for two years of professional experience
-
Ability to navigate and balance competing priorities with available resources
-
Experience in a college or university setting
-
Demonstrated experience meeting deadlines and coordinating projects within project management software/systems
-
Strong writing and editing skills for both digital and print platforms
-
Comfort with public speaking and engaging a diverse public to include students, faculty, staff, campus/community partners, and vendors
-
Experience with multimedia (content management systems, social media management, and/or digital sign deployment)
-

Additional Notes on Compensation
The salary range is low to mid $50’s annual compensation, commensurate with experience and education.
