Summary
The Development Procurement Manager manages the procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment and services for all of Chipotle’s restaurants and brands. S/he develops long range strategic sourcing plans to reduce total costs, optimize value from suppliers, and meet internal customer requirements. The manager also collaborates with internal partners and with suppliers, develops effective negotiation strategies, and manages an annual spend of approximately $50 million. Through excellent project management skills, this person will advance procurement projects from the conception phase through development, testing, and system-wide implementation. The manager may also mentor or oversee other procurement professionals.
Responsibilities
* Establishing testing methods and following them to ensure that each project meets with Chipotle’s expectations of quality, sustainability, cost, availability, etc. * Evaluating potential new suppliers that align with Chipotle’s standards and sourcing samples for testing; making recommendations and, in collaboration with the Development Manager, deciding which suppliers to use * Developing and maintaining a scorecard for current suppliers, using measurable data to determine whether Chipotle should continue using the suppliers * Analyzing results, such as the above scorecard or total spend per restaurant, and making recommendations to the Development, Design, Construction, and Finance teams * Tracking market trends, prices, supplier performance, and compliance where relevant; using such data to predict and prepare for future pricing fluctuations and/or the need for new suppliers * Prioritizing and leading all R&D projects for Procurement by managing project scope, objectives, performance, and outcomes * Regularly interfacing with other groups across the company and vendors on timelines and expectations of projects * Communicating project status and accountabilities to various stakeholders on a regular basis via meetings and written communication * Working with Finance to forecast impact of R&D projects and to plan, forecast, and track economics of new materials
Ideal Candidate
* Possess excellent analytical, quantitative, written, and verbal communication skills * Be comfortable presenting to and communicating with a variety of stakeholders, including senior leadership * Be confident, with the ability to effectively challenge peers and leaders when appropriate * Effectively manage priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment * Be able to work independently with attention to detail, accuracy, documentation, and follow-through * Have knowledge and ability to proficiently use a PC along with MS Office Suite software, including intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel * Possess a B.A./B.S. in business, research, or project management, or an equivalent in education and experience * Have eight (8) to ten (10) years of project management or R&D work experience * Enjoy minimal travel
