Summary
The Director of Content Strategy will own all content from conceptualization to go live – blog, website, social & digital media, email, and print. During the first 6 months you will work with numerous stakeholders (internal & external) to launch our blog – the centerpiece of our content strategy. This position manages a webmaster/content strategist and owns the relationship with our design firm and is a key stakeholder with our PR firm in earned media strategy. This person will work with numerous internal stakeholders including scientists, directors, administration staff, and the CEO to understand our work and create a compelling content strategy to build public and financial support of our mission.
Responsibilities
- Innovative thought leadership in content strategy – preferably in the global health field - Build, pitch, and execute original, innovative content strategies aimed at cultivating philanthropic support and brand awareness - Exceptional writing abilities across various platforms (digital, social, email, etc.) - Creates compelling original, aggregated and smartly curated news, blogs, features, infographics, event and other content for publication across channels - Identifies, recruits and manages a robust network of top influencers and thought leaders as contributors of expert insights, in-depth how-to content, IdeaExchange posts, and as e-Learning instructors and speakers for our events (local health seminars, lab tours, round tables, etc) - Responsible for quality assurance of all content created - including adherence to style guide, optimization and best practices.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Content Marketing, Marketing, or related field Masters in related field strongly preferred, but not required - Previous experience in a health or scientific organization desired - 6-8 years of related experience - Previous supervisory experience preferred - Previous nonprofit/donor experience a plus - Deep knowledge of major social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Periscope, and Instagram – and industry best practices for each - Ability to tell a story using words, images, video, and an understanding of how to create content that draws an audience - Able to manage expectations, delivering projects within scope and budget, and mitigating issues that may interfere with project success - Ability to align content development with staff, financial, time, & other resources - Strong project management skills - Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities - Comfortable in a collaborative team environment Digital marketing and SEO experience.
