Summary
The Director, Product Management is responsible for the execution of product vision and strategy for the Dealer Management System (DMS) Platform. He/She should monitor and interpret all trends that occur within the Automotive vertical, competitor and industry segments, and make recommendations to senior management to assist in the advancement of the Drive (DMS) product suite. The Director, Product Management supervises other product managers. They prioritize projects that align with road map goals, and are the facilitator between business drivers and the team’s ability to deliver the solutions. It is their responsibility to take the critical role and overseer the design and development of strategic parts of CDK Drive components. He/She is not responsible for the technical solution design, but is responsible for driving the vision for their assigned product area. This role functions as a key interface between business leaders, development, operations, and product marketing to advance the company’s objective to deliver leading enterprise platform products. It is also very important for the Director, Product Management to work with all other product areas to develop strategic synergies among products. This is a critical factor in optimizing future development and innovation of new products.
Responsibilities
* Expert at balancing demands of multiple customers and directing team resources to successfully delight customers * Define & drive strategic vision for comprehensive, best-in-class DMS Platform and Application products – strategic thinking about the “whole product” – product, sales, service, support, etc. * Identifies assumptions, dependencies, & potential risks & creates risk mitigation strategies * Thoughtfully considers data before drawing conclusions and/or able to grasp complexities & perceive relationships among problems or issues * Expert at identifying problems, gathering information systematically, applying logic to draw valid conclusions to reach & communicate a valid solution * Skilled at generating & examining alternatives to the problem, while considering objectives & resources * Considers potential consequences (including others’ views & emotions) prior to choosing a course of action. * Accepts and/or uses appropriate authority to make decision * Proceeds with confidence once decisions are made * Responsible for staffing team – market to passive candidates, conduct interviews, & make hiring decisions * Demonstrates ability to successfully perform conflict resolution with team members & mentors * Product Performance / Operational Metrics / Competitiveness - Monitor and analyze how well the product is performing. Constant monitoring overall product(s) profitability, actual vs. planned revenue, customer satisfaction and market share. * Analyze internal measurements to determine how our DMS solutions impact the company operations, implementation, support and service areas. Actively partner with these organizations and prioritize enhancements within the roadmap based on business impact * Identify competitive offerings in the market assessing their strengths and weaknesses. Evaluate the presence and relative importance of key product capabilities
Ideal Candidate
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES** · Demonstrated ability in managing internal and external client expectations on product requirements and deliverables · Expert knowledge of modern product management concepts and techniques, including Agile development methodologies · Subject matter expert in the application area of Social Media and SEO. Experience in Automotive technologies with automotive retailing is a plus · Demonstrated experience in performing as a solutions consultant to external and internal clients · Strong writing, mentoring, negotiation, communication, and meeting facilitation skills **QUALIFICATIONS** · Non-technical undergraduate degree, plus 10+ years of directly related work experience in a Software, Systems, or Online Services company OR - a technical undergraduate degree (e.g. Engineering or Computer Science) plus at least 5 years directly related work experience. · Proven track record in delivering software projects in an iterative fashion. · Experience with Agile tools (eg TFS, Jira or Rally, Version One, etc) · Demonstrated ability to exert influence and make & meet commitments in a highly-matrixed organization. · Proven track record of leading & working with off-shore Agile teams. · High tolerance of ambiguity and the ability to drive business decisions with incomplete information. · Demonstrated outstanding verbal and written communication skills. · Demonstrated record of turning ideas into realities **The preferred candidate will also possess:** · An MBA or equivalent graduate degree. · Direct experience with a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider · Direct experience with the Pragmatic Marketing Framework
