Summary
Armstrong Ceiling currently has a job opportunity for a Global Operations Excellence (Lean) Senior Manager to be located in Lancaster, PA. Reporting to the Director of Global Operations Excellence, the Global Operations Excellence Senior Manager will be responsible for directing the global deployment of the Operations Excellence programs across global Armstrong Building Products ceiling plants. Additionally, this role will be tasked with driving the Lean cultural transformation in the mineral fiber and metal ceilings plants and business, ensuring a high level of commitment and excitement with business leaders, Lean plant experts, plant leadership and floor employees.
Responsibilities
- Developing and executing phased strategies and tactical deployment programs for both manufacturing and business functions - Developing operation excellence targets, including re-alignment of capital and human resources - Developing knowledge transfer and organization buy-in that ensures acceptance for the sustainability of improvement - Managing a small team of experts, including Operational Excellence Champions and Process Improvement Champions, while leveraging the talent of others across the company - Co-leading the Lean Steering Committee with the Plant Managers to select and track Kaizen activities, drive culture change, implement and improve management systems, and introduce new tools to solve complex business problems - Preparing the plants and business functions for improvement activities and events - Leading and developing continuous improvement methodologies - Leading and working with Organizational Leadership to identify Lean Six Sigma training needs - Developing and delivering training classes to meet these needs - Creating and leveraging process roadmaps, metrics and control plans for key business processes - Building and maintaining the foundation for continuous improvement by ensuring the effective use of transformation activities - Supporting the cultural shift necessary to transform the organization to a continuous improvement, business process and data-driven making mindset - Assuming the role of coach, consultant, participant and lead on continuous improvement events - Teaching Lean to all levels of the organization through the application of key tools and management systems to solve critical business issues - Leveraging company sites through benchmarking, best practice sharing and transfer of kaizen activities - Integrating with maintenance and reliability methodologies through the organization - Providing regular activity reports to plant and business managers and the VP of Manufacturing **Supervisory Responsibilities** * Manages a small group of operational excellence lean experts with global responsibility. - 4 Operational Excellence Champions (3 in North America and 1 in Europe) - 2 Process Improvement Champions (Both in North America) - A number of other indirect resources and lean practitioners across the globe
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management or other related field; or equivalent experience - 7+ years of experience in Lean, Six Sigma or Process Improvement as well as experience driving Lean manufacturing initiatives in complex global manufacturing facilities - 15+ years as an operations leader within a manufacturing environment - Experience in managing plant operations in a global setting and driving change across cultures - Previous experience acting as the lead change agent in complex transformational activities - Experience leading 50+ Lean events - Proven success designing road maps and meeting KPI goals - Demonstrated strong facilitation skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams - Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal - Ability to thrive in a complex team environment, including matrix leadership - Proven history of leading both up and down in an organization - Ability to travel 50+% depending upon planned initiatives locally and internationally **Preferred Qualifications for the Global Operations Excellence Senior Manager:** - MBA Degree - Prior experience in ceiling manufacturing - Formal Lean training for an "academy" organization either through direct consulting experience or via organizations with well-established lean operating systems - PMI PMP certification - Ability to speak Mandarin, German, French or Russian
