Summary
CarMax is seeking a Marketing Manager in the LA Region to help us drive growth in local markets in the LA region. The Business Manager, Field Marketing will be responsible for developing and implementing specific local marketing plans to address the unique customers and competitive landscape in a set of west coast CarMax markets. A key part of this role will be building relationships with the Regional/Store teams and working cross-functionally with home office marketing teams to ensure creation of a high-quality and effective marketing plan, with creative and on-time execution.
Responsibilities
* Create marketing strategy and plans for assigned local markets - Gather insights on local consumers, competitors and communities - Analyze marketing performance of stores in the region - Explore and evaluate local marketing opportunities, events/ sponsorships and community partners - With home office marketing teams, develop plans to address each market's unique opportunities and refine based on performance and other learnings * Support corporate marketing initiatives - Share insights and local market perspective on broader marketing plans - Assist in developing market prioritization and collaborate with internal and agency teams in the development of plans for key focus markets - Work with home office contacts to coordinate local vendor and media activities for new store openings - Help to facilitate the communication and rollout of all marketing initiatives with region and store teams * Lead tactical execution of local marketing initiatives - Maintain local profile pages (both on carmax.com and more broadly) and digital store signs to ensure accuracy, brand alignment and local community relevance - Manage the logistics of all sponsorship, promotional and/or community activities in the region - In partnership with public relations, build relationships with local media, ensuring CarMax is recognized in the local communities as a great employer and dedicated local citizen - Actively attend regional events, developing and deploying content and finding opportunities to maximize coverage and recognition - Coordinate the development of assets with the home office for all local marketing initiatives - Ensure brand & message consistency with all local programs - Ensure marketing materials are updated throughout region * Build strong relationships with Regional team, internal marketing teams and external partners - Act as main marketing point of contact for regional/store teams and local vendors - Act as regional point of contact for internal marketing partners - Earn respect as a strategic consultant & trusted partner amongst all partner groups Position Requirements
Ideal Candidate
* Experience leading cross-functional teams, building relationships & motivating team members. * Ability to develop a marketing strategy supported by research and data. * Experience with a range of marketing channels (broadcast, digital, direct marketing, collateral, etc.). * Strong business acumen & understanding of performance metrics (ROI, incremental sales, etc.). * Experience managing a marketing budget. * Excellent written & verbal communication skills. * Ability to think logically & creatively to develop solutions. * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines. * Excellent attention to detail and organization. * Up to 50% travel required, with some overnight stays. **Education and/or Experience:** * Four-year BA/BS degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field * Four to six years of marketing experience (ideally in a regional or local role) * Retail experience is a plus
