Summary
Reports directly to the Region Manager; the Operations Manager provides leadership and direction to the dispatch staff, company drivers, and Owner Operators. Responsible for process compliance, service reporting, and various other responsibilities including technical duties requiring the knowledge and use of system applications such as TMW. Must be, knowledgeable of Federal Motor Carrier Rules & Regulations and other applicable state / federal laws, works independently, using sound judgment in making decisions while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for all aspects of the daily fleet operations. * Provide added level of mentoring and support to Dispatch Supervisors/Coordinators, Office Staff, Company Drivers, and Owner Operators. * First point of contact for operational information including but not limited to store delivery service issues, backhaul information, driver scheduling/availability, and driver concerns. * Manage equipment availability and maintenance of tractors, trailers, etc. to ensure uninterrupted service. * Ensure sufficient staffing levels for the management of drivers and customer service related functions to handle customer concerns. * Ensure all safety initiatives are met as established by company policies. * Ensure compliance with all OSHA requirements. * Maintain compliance with all DOT, federal, state and local laws/regulations. * Review to ensure accuracy, timely completion of all reports. Confer with direct reports to resolve procedural problems using root cause analysis methods. * Daily contact with the Customer to discuss feedback and daily / future operations planning
Ideal Candidate
* BA in Business/Supply Chain Management preferred and/or relevant work experienced. * Minimum 3 years of Operations Management experience in the transportation industry. * Working knowledge of transportation management software and on board technology. * Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Must be able to interact effectively within all levels of the Customer’s and Cardinal’s organization.
