Summary
Responsible for management, planning and coordination of all R&D laboratory activities including; testing, record keeping, qualification and development of new products, laboratory equipment maintenance/upgrades, housekeeping and employee training/development while ensuring compliance with all internal procedures, FDA, ISO, OSHA, EPA and State Environmental Health & Safety program reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
* Manage the assignments and ongoing responsibilities of the laboratory technicians. * Develop/coach/manage technicians in order to meet annual objectives of the department. * Technical training of laboratory technicians in areas of technical competence, department procedures and external regulatory requirements. * Coordinate with R&D managers for resource allocation and scheduling of project support work. * Planning to ensure adequate facility and equipment needs to support project testing needs including capital planning, capital budget preparation, installation and qualification of new equipment and training of technicians for all new equipment. * All activities including training and reports necessary to support regulatory requirements including; calibration, preventative maintenance, installation qualification, lab equipment validation, HAZ-COM, biologic agents and chemical controls/disposal, OSHA, safety and internal procedures as applicable. * Ordering of supplies, chemicals, services and disposal needs to support laboratory operations. * Maintenance of the lab to ensure a neat, orderly and safe environment. * Participate on cross functional teams as needed. * Special projects as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications:** * BS degree in life sciences or engineering. * Experience with analytical chemistry and material characterization. * Possess or ability to obtain credentials for shipping hazardous materials and hazardous waste over the road (DOT compliance) or via air shipment (IATA compliance). * Minimum of 5 years experience in management of Engineers, scientists or technicians. * Minimum of 5 years experience in laboratory setting. * Knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP) and environmental, health and safety requirements (EHS). * Ability to travel occasionally. **Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:** * MS Degree preferred.
