Summary
Caraustar Industries, Inc., an industry leader in paperboard products, seeks a Human Resources Administrator to join our thriving team in Grand Rapids. The Human Resources Administrator will be responsible for is the first point of contact for employees at the Kingston Springs Carton plant for HR matters. The incumbent will complete payroll activities for the site in a timely and accurate manner. This position requires experience working in Human Resources specifically in the areas of recruiting, employee relations, reporting, data collection and documentation as well as a basic knowledge of employment regulations. The incumbent will also be responsible for administering safety programs as well as performing basic accounting tasks and data analysis. In this vital position, you will have the benefit of working with the resources of a larger organization while maintaining the close-knit culture and open communication of smaller company.
Responsibilities
* Efficiently process weekly payroll and attendance tracking for hourly employees. * Actively manage safety programs at the Kingston Springs Carton Plant. Basic understanding of accounting including completion of accounting duties, tasks and reporting. * Understands plant inventory systems and provides support in maintaining inventory data. * Coordinate corporate initiatives at the site including, but not limited to, the annual Health and Wellness programs. * Administer open enrollment and leaves of absence at the site. Ensures compliance with corporate policies. * Initiate and ensure compliance with all pre-employment requirements while keeping key stakeholders informed. * Recruit, review resumes, screen resumes and arrange interviews. Work closely with managers and temporary services to maintain an acceptable staffing level. * Maintain files and documentation in accordance with Federal and State laws. * Update and maintain employee personnel records in accordance with regulations and the Caraustar document retention policy. * Advise on employee relations issues, maintain a positive working environment and escalate concerns, as needed. * Identify and recommend process improvements where possible to leverage work flow optimization. * Provide administrative support as needed. * Complete special projects as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. * 3+ years of Human Resources experience. * Previous recruiting experience and experience with payroll preferred. * Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Programs. * Strong communication skills. * High organization and detail orientation. * Kronos experience a plus. **Other Skills/Abilities** * Must be able to communicate with employees on all levels. * Must be a self-starter and work with a sense of urgency. * Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
