Summary
As the Merchandising Solutions Program Manager your primary goal is to help us deploy solutions and make them stick. This begins with being involved during solution design to identify opportunities for easing their introduction and ends with working with buyers, planners, merchandisers and marketers to fully adopt solutions and provide feedback to the next wave of evolutionary enhancements. Solutions include everything from decision models to processes to systems. Our group reports into the Strategy Circle, which in turn reports to the COO. Since our group is deliberately set up as a cross functional team, opportunities exist to learn and branch out into marketing, site merchandising or supply chain. The ideal candidate is viewed as a thought leader amongst peers in business with regards to understanding assortment planning, buying and merchandising and the approach taken to accomplish key tasks. He or she is known as a constructive partner, analyzing challenges thoroughly and thoughtfully, and proposing solutions that take into account the larger initiative and business context. For technology solutions he or she can assess and explain how the technical approach taken is consistent or not with larger business process objectives and operational strategy. Ideally, a good candidate can demonstrate the application of various change management techniques beyond user documentation and trainings, and the ability to effectively manage user groups.
Responsibilities
* Provides perspective on proposed solutions and process changes, researching concerns and collaborating with solution lead to make adjustments that will improve the overall solution’s implementation success for an initiative * Identifies service level requirements in all steps of the process design and deployment * Develops and implements user support processes * Creates process documentation, user manuals and other rollout materials * Prioritizes implementation steps based on change management strategy and plan * Advocates for solutions and initiatives with organizational leaders * Creates and gathers data and analysis to measure the adoption and buy-in of various initiatives * Triages ad hoc issues, manages ticket queue, user forums, open hours, etc. to address problems and enhancement opportunities in a timely fashion
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum BA/BS in a related field, such as: economics, mathematics, education, business administration * 3-5 years of relevant experience in a related function field (merchandising, planning, inventory management) * Exposure to, or previous experience in, orchestrating a major change in business strategy, relating to sales or marketing (including pricing) * Comfortable with general project management principles and able to critique different approaches * Can identify strength and weaknesses of a given process in context of business strategy in at least one functional domain * Comfortable with conducting in depth research on process matters, without losing sight of the big picture and balancing the need to maintain forward momentum * Recognized for excellent communication skills and the ability to speak well in front of larger audiences * Facilitation skills and the ability to steer a diverse group of people towards a common goal are a plus
