Summary
You are passionate about using data to help all parts of a business learn and get better. You have extensive experience leading teams to establish strategic initiatives, identify hypotheses and business questions, implement tests, analyze results, and influence decisions. You don’t just want to know how things work, you identify data-driven ways to make them work better. You love turning questions into discoveries and improvements. LTV, DCF, NPV, ROI, and OKR are more than just acronyms; they are old friends and you know how to translate them into meaningful targets for companies, teams, and individuals. You enjoy communicating insights to help the team make better decisions. You have a deep understanding of applied statistics and the power and limitations of different analytical approaches.
Responsibilities
* Lead the analytics and data science team, including but not limited to, setting the data science/analytics strategy of the company, managing and mentoring more junior analysts on the team, and scaling the team to meet the needs of the company * Work with the CFO and the management team to set the strategic vision of the company and identify opportunities where outcomes can be improved through data-driven decisions * Work across the entire organization to help define, set, and track OKRs for success * Partner with other teams to frame up business questions, determine analytics approach, and deliver insights * Prioritize the large analytics projects in addition to numerous ad-hoc requests from the company * Work closely with Product, Marketing, and Sales to deliver operational results * Participate in company strategy development and operational capacity allocations * Manage the entire analytics technology stack * Evangelize the best practices and tools for accessing data to make data-driven decisions throughout the entire organization
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications:** * Coding experience: R, Python, and Ruby are preferred in that order * Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with database architecture * Bachelor's degree from a leading institution and exceptional academic record * 10+ yrs of relevant work experience, with 5 of them being in a management position * A deep understanding of statistics * Comfortable acting as a liaison between business, data science, and engineering to see projects completed and used * Experience managing teams and mentoring team members * Strong communication skills to articulate findings * Excellent organization and prioritization skills * The ability to work independently and pick up new skills as necessary to complete a task **Nice-to-haves:** * Familiarity with software development practices, e.g. version control, testing, reviewing * Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline: Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, etc. * Experience at a growth stage company * Demonstrated interest in personal finance & investing * Familiarity with the platforms and systems we use: Mixpanel, MySQL, Python, R, R Markdown, Salesforce, Salesforce IQ, and Pardot
