Summary
The Purchasing Manager will perform duties to include: the purchasing of goods and services, procurement, vendor analysis and vendor relations as it relates to the business units of YLA in a timely and professional manner.
Responsibilities
* Review invoices for accuracy and completeness * Coordinate purchasing procedures with staff and vendors to ensure delivery of products and services * Ensure purchase order approval process is followed at all times. * Establish and/or maintain relationships with vendors. * Analyze purchase trends and seek to identify the lowest cost option. * Assess cost impacts when analyzing multiple choices for asset management and purchases. * Negotiate rates and pricing schedules with vendors when needed. * Assist in managing building leases, equipment leases, and contractual agreements * Ordering and maintenance of supply and materials inventory (e.g. forms, office supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability * Provide assistance to management personnel and perform special projects as assigned * Perform all job functions while adhering to the Company’s policies and procedures
Ideal Candidate
**Education and Experience** * Minimum of High School diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree preferred. * 3+ years of Purchasing experience. Transportation\warehouse industry experience is preferred. * Knowledge and understanding of standard accounts payable procedures. * Good verbal and written communication skills. * Excellent ability to interact professionally and effectively with internal and external customers in person and over the phone * Good analytical skills * Good organizational and time management skills * Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while paying attention to detail * Ability to gather and interpret data, compile information and prepare reports * Systems experience: Proficiency in Excel and Word required. Experience with purchase order management systems such as JD Edwards is a plus.
