Summary
Responsible for effectively planning, directing, and coordinating all activities of raw material and finished product warehousing and distributing. Develop and implement a planned flow of products and raw materials throughout various production facilities and warehouse resources. Work through staff to achieve the efficient and economical storage, handling, and distribution activities in compliance with established product requirements and organizational objectives.
Responsibilities
* Develop, and document, processes and procedures for the efficient and cost-effective storage and movement of materials and products within the warehouse and throughout the production system. Monitor performance and make adjustments as necessary. * Review and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly reports to ensure warehousing operations are meeting expectation and to identify areas of variance requiring attention and correction; implement corrective action as appropriate. * Work closely with other functions and production facilities to ensure that adequate and appropriate inventory and storage is available to meet customer demands. Take actions to remedy as needed. * Resolve complex issues arising from unexpected variances between materials received and materials expected; work closely with vendors, internal purchasing, and other production facilities as necessary. Work with sales, customer service, and customers to resolve similar issues resulting from unexpected variances in outbound finished good shipments. * Oversee the accurate and timely data entry of all warehouse and related activities into software applications and databases; ensure that users adhere to established internal controls. * Prepare routine and ad hoc reports for management review regarding the performance, capacity, and volume of warehousing activities for use in short- and long-term strategic planning. * Perform routine supervisor responsibilities including, but not limited to, hiring, training, developing, scheduling, coaching, promoting, and terminating. * Participate in any audits, internal or external, as required by providing relevant information about warehousing processes, practices, or data. * Participate in the development of new warehousing systems, strategies, or facilities. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business or equivalent subject matter expertise, communication skills, and analytical ability acquired through work experience. * Seven or more years working in warehouse management in a food manufacturing or similar, environment. * Proven ability to understand and use enterprise resource planning software in all phases of manufacturing. * Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with employees at all levels of the organization. * Ability to work with employees at all levels and to motivate direct reports; specifically mentoring and coaching individuals and identifying short- and long-term development needs and providing appropriate support. * Ability to manage multiple priorities at one time using effective organizational skills and judgment in an environment of frequently changing circumstances. * Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of applications; specifically using Word to create and modify documents, Excel to record data and calculate results, and Outlook to communicate internally and externally.
