Responsibilities
* Prepare and compile US GAAP disclosures included in SEC filings and other regulatory filings for Voya Financial and its subsidiaries; * Interact with other functional departments to ensure the quality, accuracy and completeness of the financial reporting disclosures included in Forms 10-Q and Form 10-K, as well as participate in the preparation of other US GAAP financial statements; * Develop and utilize various analytical reports and procedures to assist with the understanding and validation of certain US GAAP disclosures; * Coordinate, conduct, document and review workpapers of financial reporting activities in accordance of company policies, procedures and controls; * Assist in the timely and accurate delivery of financial information including analyzing and reporting of financial activities; * Interact with internal and external auditors as needed; * Recommend process improvements and participate in problem solving sessions and provides functional advice to less experience analysts; and * Assist in various projects as assigned including the process improvement initiatives related to financial reporting including the implementation of new or expanding the usage of certain existing financial reporting tools and other improvement initiatives; * Contribute as key team member that meet ultimate objectives of the team, department and organization.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting * CPA preferred * Total of 3-5 years of experience, including public accounting, insurance accounting or SEC reporting environment more than 4 years of accounting and reporting experience, including public accounting, insurance accounting or SEC reporting environment; * Understanding of US GAAP and competent in preparing financial statement disclosures; * Financial analysis experience helpful Documents and follows established reporting methods and control procedures. * Shares technical expertise with others, including peers; * helps lead implementation of process improvements; * provides functional advice or training on complex matters to less experienced financial analysts * Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and still meet required deadlines * Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with team and other departments * A self-starter, self-motivated, self-disciplined and performance driven * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * PC Skills, including strong Microsoft Excel required; PeopleSoft and/or ledger system experience a plus; Hyperion skills and WDesk experience beneficial.
