Summary
orities. The Product Owner is responsible for creating and managing the product / team backlog of user stories and collaborating with the rest of the agile team to define the program increment (PI) and sprint goals and commitments. They ensure that the agile team delivers value to the business. You will develop the strategy and vision for product roadmaps, establish collaborative relationships with external and internal stakeholders, gather accurate requirements and evaluate product performance for enhancements. You will strategically and creatively think about how the consumer experience should work translating a vision to processes and requirements that impacts millions of lives and helps health the health care system. Product Owners are involved in every stage of a product's life-cycle, i.e. from creation to end of life. Included in this would be gathering and documenting user stories and functional requirements based on a complete understanding of the various user personas of our current and potential customers, including their respective roles and responsibilities and related functionality objectives that the personas require to do their jobs. User stories are the foundational level of definition for advancement of the Product. The backlog of user stories includes both new features and bug list that must be jointly prioritized to optimally advance the Product and meet customer needs. To successfully write epic-level stories and the finer-grained user stories and acceptance criteria, Product Owners must understand targeted end users (aka personas) via interviews and other mechanisms.
Responsibilities
**Primary Responsibilities:** * Delivery Initiation * Delivers product / team backlog, including milestones, to the agile team * Planning Event & Ongoing Planning * The Product Owner will take responsibility for the development of ongoing enhancements, create and prioritize user stores with the agile teams * Identify, define, analyze, prioritize and refine the requirements, and will communicate those milestones and visions to the development team * Represent the customer with the ability to prioritize tradeoffs, clarify requirements, and work to drive user stories to acceptance throughout the Agile software development lifecycle * The Product Owner will work directly with our various internal and external stakeholders, including senior staff and department managers, as well as with focused development teams to ensure successful translation of those requirements into high-quality product deliverables * Sprinting * Participate in Sprint planning, review, and retrospective meetings and providing feedback to the Product Management team and Extension stakeholder * Displays a practical understanding of agile principles and practices * Shares and decomposes features into user stories (non-technical) * Develops a deep understanding of the customer and product needs Acts as a recognized voice of the customer to the team, on behalf of the business * Records business requirements in the product / team backlog * Ensures traceability between requirements, features, and user stories * Reviews test cases against user stories acceptance criteria * Periodically re-prioritizes the product / team backlog based on customer feedback, market changes, and business priority (possibly, as communicated by the Product Manager) * Formally accepts the user stories once all acceptance criteria are met and demonstrated * Actively participates in product / team backlog refinement, retrospectives, defect management, and agile teams release planning sessions * Is accessible to the agile team to answer questions identified during sprint planning sessions and daily scrum * Owns the continual acceptance criteria for business value * Leads the system demo with the team * PI Close * Participates in the solution PI demo * Ensures that all goals and milestones have been met * Verifies value was provided to the business * Delivery Close * Participates in the review feature traceability activity and help with any questions **Assets:** * Demonstrated ability to achieve goals in a matrix environment * Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence others * Effectively communicate at all levels of the organization * Excellent analytical and problem solving skills * Experience managing a highly-visible projects with Agile project management principles and practices * Navigate and influence multiple cross-functional teams in a complex, matrix work environment * Support the development of market and sales strategies and value proposition * Forecast revenue or savings opportunities associated with product development initiatives * Manage cross-segment projects and initiatives that require problem solving, relationship building, influencing and analyzing * Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges * Influence innovation across teams to ensure aligned; cohesive progress across multiple areas including technology, marketing, and service operations * Excellent written and verbal communication, and possesses strong emotional intelligence skills * This role requires highly developed relationship building skills and the ability to establish credibility and influence within the internal organization * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment
Ideal Candidate
**Required Qualifications:** * Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience * 4+ years of Product Management / Product development experience * Proficiency with MS Office applications (min. of 3 years exp) * 3 years experience in a product and / or technical development environment, preferably with a focus on requirements / Product Backlog management * 3 years experience in the development of applications in an Agile environment as a Product Owner or Business Analyst. * Ability to travel 25% * Must live within a commutable distance to the following offices: Eden Prairie, MN or Basking Ridge, NJ **Preferred Qualifications:** * Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) * Pragmatic Marketing * Healthcare experience
