Summary
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Communications and Marketing, the Marketing Director leads our marketing campaigns, our celebrity engagement, the positioning of The Wilderness Society’s brand and the implementation of TWS brand standards throughout the organization—all to align with organizational fundraising goals and strategies, and constituency-building and digital growth objectives. This key leadership position works closely with the online and social marketing team, Philanthropy and the Communications team to implement multifaceted marketing campaigns that achieve organizational goals in advocacy, membership and development.
Responsibilities
- Leads the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that drive support for TWS, both through increased financial support for the organization and increased advocacy for our issues, as well as increased TWS brand awareness. - Works closely with TWS Digital team on digital marketing strategy to fully leverage TWS Social Media channels in creative ways to increase reach, engagement and fundraising opportunities. - Manages TWS brand and oversees TWS brand guidelines, ensuring brand consistency throughout the organization. - Plays critical role in TWS corporate partnerships, working with TWS philanthropy team to identify marketing opportunities for potential new partnerships; communicate TWS brand value to potential partners; and maintain and strengthen existing partnerships. - Directs TWS’s celebrity engagement, reaching out to build new partnerships, as well as maintaining and building out existing partnerships, which support TWS’s mission and philanthropic goals. - Oversees marketing specialist, who supports marketing work and manages Facebook ad strategies, and TWS publications , including newsletters and the annual report. - Performs other related duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
**Experience, Competencies, and Education** - Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications, or a related field. - 10 years of experience working as a part of an interdisciplinary marketing team creating and implementing integrated marketing campaigns for a multifaceted organization. - Strong understanding of and experience with digital marketing including paid marketing campaigns on social media. - Knowledge of and experience managing organizational brand guidelines. - Strong writing and editing skills. - Excellent project management skills; ability to multitask and manage multiple projects with shifting priorities. - Proven ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including marketing, fundraising and communications professionals, across departments and regions. - Excellent communications skills; experience managing relationships with corporate partners and outside organizations. **Desired Characteristics** - A passionate commitment for and an ability to articulate eloquently, the goals, mission and aspirations of TWS and its programs. - Strong sense of teamwork and commitment to working toward the common goal. - Willingness to ‘learn as you go’ and participate in feedback loops. - Demonstrated history of flexibility, adaptability and willingness to accept change. - Passion for digital outreach and willingness to experiment in this medium. - Strong intellect, creativity, drive and initiative. - Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills; interacts with trust and respect at all levels.
