Summary
The Accountant for reports to the Controller, maintains and controls the general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the information recorded and reported to the Leadership Team and corporate personnel. This includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
Responsibilities
- Support the Controller in carrying out responsibilities including the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Finance Department. - Perform the processing, posting, and payment of accounts payable transactions according to the accounts payable policy. - Perform the processing and posting of accounts receivables invoices and payments. Also responsible for the collection of accounts according to the credit policy. - Prepare and enter the entries for accrued liabilities on a monthly basis according to company policies. - Prepare and enter the entries for account changes and errors. - Maintain the fixed assets and associated schedules on the FAS Software System. - Prepare monthly reconciliations and any other month end closing reports according to the month end checklist. - Prepare weekly and monthly reports as required. - Prepare sales and use tax returns. - Participate in the monthly cycle inventory process and the annual comprehensive inventory process. - Periodically reviews tasks and make recommendations on process efficiency. - Assist in any other tasks and duties as required by the Controller.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor degree in accounting with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance. - Must have an understanding to work with and complete portions of the financial statements. - Must be proficient in Excel and Word. - Must have strong work ethic, professional attitude, and be detailed oriented as well as reliable. - Must have strong problem solving skills, basic accounting knowledge, and multi-tasking skills. - Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done. - Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
