Responsibilities
Schedules, plans, coordinates, executes and evaluates key special events, third party fund raisers, direct mail appeals and other activities that raise funds in support of The Villages programs and services. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Raise a minimum of $1 million dollars - Create a prospect management system with the integration of the wealth search engine into Raisers Edge - Serve as the lead for all direct mail campaigns (four per fiscal year), creating the strategy, timeline and tactics to meet the annual budget goal - Responsible for coordinating, implementing, growing and evaluating The Girl Within Luncheon and the Foursome for Fatherhood Golf Tournament annually, working with the volunteer planning committees - Plan and coordinate all donor cultivation events and receptions, including Meet The Village - Responsible for coordinating The Villages United Way Campaign - Serve as liaison to the three Auxilian groups, coordinating the lunch and learn programs as well as the annual Tea for Three recognition luncheon - Participate in brainstorming innovative ideas for events that must be accomplished within a budget and a time frame - Leads Village tours on all campuses for donors, corporate interests, volunteers and grantors - Compile financial statements for reporting on special events. As well as written reports for board, committees and staff - Serves on the Development Committee, assisting with the meetings, reporting and engagement of volunteers - Assist in the preparation of the departments budget through the completion of assigned project summaries; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds through special events checkbooks - Assist the department in meeting and accomplishing all fund raising goals and objectives as determined in project summaries and annual development plan - Develop event manuals, training manuals, materials, resources, forms, procedures and systems for fund raising staff and volunteers - Monitor and evaluate special events effectiveness, investigate trends, and recommend and implement modifications to improve fund raising effectiveness - Coordinate all corporate solicitation efforts, building on existing and new relationships - Implement and evaluate all new phantom events - Assists in coordinating publications materials and programs for events including brochures, pamphlets, newsletters and Web site - Acting as liaison with the vendors and committees in relation to the Development Departments special events - Report on event status at Development Department meetings, assigned fund raising committee meetings and board meetings as needed - Coordinate registration process for special events including distribution of registration materials, confirmation of registrations and fees - Assist in preparing all special event mailings including Invitations, save the date cards, donor letters, corporate underwriting solicitations, ad journal solicitations, and acknowledgement letters, etc. - Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role

The successful candidate is someone who: - is highly organized with strong interpersonal skills and works well independently - is a social individual that has strong critical thinking skills - understands basics development principles can operate in a fact paced environment that involves creativity - can interact with a loyal and established donor base Required Experience: - Preferable with at least seven years of fund raising/special events experience - Strong analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through a completion of a bachelors degree or relevant work experience - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Computer proficiency with knowledge of word processing, excel, Raisers Edge and Wealth Engine (preferable) - Highly motivated, independent thinker in an interdisciplinary team - Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations for an office environment/setting. - Work may require weekend and evening work.
