Our mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin. It's a huge job that's only gotten harder as our community struggles with a prolonged period of economic distress and record numbers of people are pushed to the point of hunger. Thankfully, thousands of caring donors and supporters have rallied around the Food Bank and enabled us to scale up our operations to meet the need. We have 130 employees, 25,000 volunteers each year, and 450 partner organizations throughout the community.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Development, the Corporate Development Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive strategies to sustain and expand contributions and support from businesses and corporations to support the mission of the Food Bank. The Corporate Development Manager will set the short-term and long-term strategies for the corporate fundraising program and be responsible for implementing an innovative, strategic plan to increase support from current corporate supporters and bring on new corporate donors. S/he will collaborate closely with other teams throughout the department and the organization to increase corporate engagement and support, including Grants, Major Gifts, Annual Fund, and Community Engagement teams. - Leadership - Develops and continually improves upon a comprehensive corporate strategic plan to engage and cultivate new donors and deepen existing relationships - Develops and implements a cultivation program for first-time corporate donors in order to deepen relationships, increase retention, and maximize giving - Sustains and grows current corporate sponsorship programs to support programs and services of the SF -Marin Food Banks by developing and promoting sponsorship levels with established recognition benefits - Serves as a liaison to businesses and corporations who support the Food Bank; represents the Food Bank at meetings and events - Collaboration - Stewards key Corporate Grantmakers and shares grant deadlines and other information with the Grants team so appropriate applications and reports can be submitted - Works closely with the Community Engagement team to facilitate engagement opportunities for employees and teams that deepen the Food Bank’s relationship with corporations and businesses. - Seeks input from Food Bank leadership to understand the organization’s needs and translate these needs into compelling cases for support from donors who may contribute to the Food Bank through events and sponsorships - Works with Marketing and Communications team to ensure that Corporate donors are appropriately recognized in website, Annual Report, Food Matters print newsletter, eNews, Breadwinners wall, match sponsorship campaigns, event programs, on-air check presentations, donation barrels etc. - Works with Board, Officers, and other Food Bank staff to secure meetings with prospective Corporate partners - Assists in preparation and implementation of other operational and fundraising activities as needed - Administration - Tracks all solicitation and correspondence information on current and prospective donors in Raiser’s Edge - Ensures corporate database and files are up to date Ensures that corporate gifts are processed in a timely manner - Prepares timetables, budgets and schedules for corporate development programs - Follows news and business media to track current trends, industry news, information about current donors and to develop prospect list
Ideal Candidate
- B.A. degree preferred - 5 years of relevant relationship management and fundraising experience for non-profit organizations, preferably with social services organizations - Significant experience with corporate philanthropy, sponsorships and current relationships within the corporate giving network highly preferred - Exceptional interpersonal skills required; must demonstrate ability to forge excellent relationships with donors as well as work well with a team of co-workers, senior managers and a diverse board of directors; must be comfortable presenting in front of large groups - Ability to work effectively in a team setting with collaborative, open communication style - Valid driver’s license - Outstanding attention to detail, analytical ability, and research skills; proficiency with Microsoft suite required; proficiency with a donor database, particularly Raiser’s Edge, is highly desired - Excellent planning, writing, and presentation skills that will represent the Food Bank’s mission, goals and philosophies with the highest professional standards - Candidate must be an exceptionally well-organized and innovative self-starter and should be able to set clear strategic vision for the corporate fundraising program and adapt and evolve to new methods, technologies, and opportunities - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
