Summary
TED is seeking a Development Associate to join our TEDx team. This role’s primary responsibility is to grow our TEDx Business program. TEDx Business events are self-organized events held inside companies, which energize culture and spread ideas throughout corporations around the world. Revenues from TEDx Business partners are used to advance the TEDx mission and to benefit its volunteer organizers. If you enjoy cultivating and owning business relationships, have at least 3 years experience in sales, and are driven by TED’s mission, this role is ideal for you. This position reports directly to head of TEDx Global Partnerships.
Responsibilities
* Identify and secure new TEDx Business license partners, as well as building upon existing relationships, to meet and exceed annual revenue targets * Work with head of TEDx Global Partnerships to identify new strategies and opportunities to develop and evolve the program * Provide regular interface with TEDx Business partners to obtain the highest level of customer satisfaction * Develop and execute a marketing and communications strategy to drive sales * Produce in-person and online training to partners to ensure TEDx Business partners get the most value and support from the program * Provide regular pipeline updates to accurately capture all sales activity * Collaborate with TED Partnerships team to ensure a coordinated go-to-market approach * Attend industry events and develop relationships with brands, marketing and HR professionals * Track business expenses and accounting activity in accordance with budgetary requirements * Work on additional partnership development projects from time to time as required . Depending on workload, this may be as little as 25% of time or over 50% depending on priorities. Other potential projects include research, reporting and development of sales tools and proposals across the corporate, foundation and individual philanthropic sectors.
Ideal Candidate
**Education and Experience Requirements:** * Proven track record in closing sales - carrying a seven figure revenue goal * Demonstrated ability to ideate, structure, and execute a creative marketing plan * 3-5 years experience in business development * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to quickly build great relationships * Past experience working with public sector on a global scale * Bachelor's Degree in business or communications related field preferred * Proficiency with Salesforce, Excel and Keynote **Other Requirements:** * A highly organized, confident self-starter with professional demeanor and strong interpersonal and collaboration skills * Excitement in setting and achieving ambitious revenue goals * Solid understanding of core marketing and human resources principles * A love and respect of data and analytics, reporting and insights * An ability to independently research and prospect using a variety of techniques including online research and face-to-face networking * Excellent capacity to learn quickly, think on the fly and self teach as required * Exceptional written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem solving skills
