Summary
Squarespace is looking for a technical writer to join the Content team in Customer Operations. The Content team produces help guides for the more than one million people who use Squarespace to carve out their piece of the web. We’re customer advocates, and we’re on a mission to help them succeed. Your primary focus will be writing and improving help content with customer needs, internal feedback, and efficiency in mind. You’ll work closely with your team lead and your teammates, ensuring that your guides are accurate, delivered on time, and aligned with Squarespace style. You’re perfect for this role if you’re a strong writer, editor, and project manager who loves obsessing over details while thinking about high-level strategy.
Responsibilities
* Write and improve help guides, explaining complex concepts and steps in clear and accessible language * Take full ownership of content on specific areas of the platform * Build relationships with Product, Engineering, QA, and the rest of Customer Operations * Give feedback to teammates through rotating peer reviews * Create other product-focused content as needed (release notes, UI copy, transactional emails) * Play a key role in evolving the voice of Squarespace Customer Operations
Ideal Candidate
* 2+ years of technical writing experience, ideally in internet, consumer tech, web publishing, or SaaS * Ability to work through ambiguity and competing priorities * Comfortable with checking your ego at the door - open to feedback from multiple stakeholders to make a guide perfect * Drive to simplify and iterate * UX intuition and a desire to discover and fulfill customers’ needs * Experience with help/documentation CMS, project management, and bug-tracking software * Collaboration skills, flexibility, empathy, and a good sense of humor * Comfort with documenting analytics/reporting tools is a plus * BA/BS in Writing, Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field is a plus
