Summary
TIAA’s 2017 Summer Internship Program is an enriching opportunity for college students who want to supplement their academic preparation with a challenging work experience as they launch their professional careers. Successful completion of the internship can lead to a full time career opportunity at TIAA, upon graduation. Summer Interns will work on an exciting mix of strategically-aligned challenging assignments and projects that help drive the achievement of the organization’s strategy and mission. Managers and colleagues will work side by side with summer interns to ensure development and learning. Candidates can expect to gain an understanding of TIAA and the Financial Services industry, as well as have opportunities to explore various IT tools, techniques, and disciplines. Successful summer interns will have the opportunity to apply for a full time position in the highly competitive entry-level Technical Associate Program.
Responsibilities
**Program Highlights:** As part of the IT Summer Intern Program, participants will have the opportunity to experience: * Ten weeks doing meaningful and strategic work as part of the IT Organization * Unique networking opportunities with both senior leaders from IT and from across TIAA * Ongoing personal and professional development opportunities * Opportunities to interact with interns from across TIAA as well as current members of the full-time entry level IT Program **Opportunities:** Interns will have the opportunity to utilize their technical skills such as Mainframe, Linux, SQL, SharePoint, Cisco and Perl – among others. TIAA will also provide interns various opportunities to learn new skills. Interns will be assigned developmental roles in 1 of 4 tracks, depending on business need and aligning with the candidates’ skills: * Application Development (Development, Quality Assurance, User Experience) * Cybersecurity * IDEA (Infrastructure, Data Management, Engineering & Architecture) * Project Management, Business Analysis & Business Management
Ideal Candidate
**Required Skills** * Currently in pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, * Information Technology or related discipline * Rising senior (current junior) or first-year graduate level student * Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (2+ years academic or work experience with PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook) * Extracurricular program participation in major-related areas * Overall GPA of 3.0 or better **Desired Skills** * Overall GPA of 3.2 or better * Excellent problem solving/analytical skills * Excellent communication skills * Proven ability to prioritize tasks and deliver on commitments * Proven leadership skills
