Claim Director

Responsible for managing RLI Transportation's complex claim unit. Manage a team of 5 direct reports including complex claim managers and examiners. Investigate, analyze, and review new and reassigned claims for coverage, liability, damages, and reserves. Ensure claims have full coverage analysis, are properly documented, adjusted, and paid. Duties include supervision and training of Claim Examiners. May testify in court and manage high value claim investigations

* Strong management and technical claim skills. * Oversee proactive initial investigation, claim handling, and resolution. * Superior communication skills to work effectively with insureds, underwriters and claimants. * Excellent written and verbal communication. * Excellent negotiation skills. * Working knowledge of claim analytics. * Must be detail-oriented and practice good organizational skills. * Self-motivated and task-oriented. **Required Experience** Requires a bachelor’s degree (J.D. preferred) in business administration, insurance, or a related field (prefer 3.0 GPA min). 10+ years of claim handling experience is preferred within the commercial transportation field. Experience in handling trucking, bus and/or commercial auto claims is a must. AIC or CPCU designation preferred.
