Summary
American National has an opportunity available for a Litigation Specialist to investigate, evaluate and negotiate casualty claims involving litigation and/or complex injuries or issues. This position may be based remotely, anywhere in the country, allowing the selected candidate to work-from-home.
Responsibilities
* Handle both personal and commercial litigated claims from inception or transfer. * Review notices of loss and applicable policies to determine proper coverage. * Conduct investigations necessary to determine coverage, liability, and/or damages consistent with Company and department standards. * Draft written correspondence for insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, vendors and management regarding various aspects of claim status. * Attend depositions, hearings, or trials as needed. * Utilize proper litigation management techniques to manage and control litigation expenses * Analysis of complex coverage/contractual issues. * Negotiate lawsuit files for fair and equitable settlements. This requires extensive work in contacting all parties involved and interpreting various legal documents. * Work within the various state laws, regulations, and fair claims practices acts of the states in which we currently operate. * Occasional travel may be required with this position
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be energetic and engaging, possessing strong analytical, communication and organization skills. Other requirements include: * Bachelor’s Degree * 5+ years litigation experience handling both Personal and Commercial lines Bodily Injury claims * 5 years of experience handling litigation claims in New York and other New England states * Strong negotiation skills * Excellent communication & organizational skills * AIC and/or CPCU designation a plus
