Summary
Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst develops, interprets, and implements complex financial and accounting concepts, or techniques for financial planning, compliance and control. Analyzes financial data obtained to determine effects of costs on business. Compares actual results to estimates and identify reasons for variances. Provides management with detailed reports for use in making business decisions. Develop processes that ensure proper internal controls throughout the company and monitors compliance. Responsibilities and work require a high-level of accounting and analytical skills and expected to be performed with a high level of independence. Leads major projects and/or direct the work of others including the operational budget process and other long terms projects on an as needed basis.
Responsibilities
* Manages the financial reporting function for the corporation. * Conducts special studies to analyze complex financial actions and prepares recommendations for policy, procedure, control, compliance or action. * Provides interpretation of financial policies, governmental legislation, accounting theory, or customer financial regulations and ensures compliance. * Analyzes financial information and identifies trends to determine present and future financial performance and recommends improvements. * Evaluates, proposes and secures approval for a streamlined invoicing process ensuring support from appropriate stakeholders. * Maintain the invoicing function for the company, ensuring accuracy of invoicing, submission of invoices to customers, filing of information and appropriate processing into the ERP system. * Work closely with Customer Service and Sales departments to ensure proper documentation of approved sales pricing, miscellaneous charges and freight sales to customers. * Verify and post details of business transactions, such as invoices to customers, funds received and disbursed and total accounts to ledger or computer spreadsheets and databases. * Verify and accurately post details of business transactions for accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, inventory and other accounts on a regular basis. * Understands processes and can explain complex business transaction through the ERP system. * Perform general ledger account reconciliations to subsidiary ledgers on a monthly basis. * Analyzes and evaluates financial information detailing assets liabilities and capital, prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other reports to summarize and interpret for management. * Directs preparation of studies, reports, and analyses in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, cash flow projections, and business forecasts for management. * Interprets and applies corporate financial policies, government legislation, and accounting theory. * Ensures proper compliance with federal, state, local governments, banking and other reporting requirements. * Manage the capital asset reporting for the company, including but not limited to; annual capital budgeting, monitoring of spending, and reporting to management. * Review with department managers actual spending results to budgeted amounts and assist in preparation of annual departmental budgets. * Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, machine hour rates, acquisition activity, new business planning, trended future requirements, government requirements, and operating forecasts. * Researches and prepares economic reports on subjects such as rate of return, depreciation, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance, and impact of governmental requirements. * Assists the organization in the development of annual budgets, planning, and other corporate financial requirements. * Works closely with the Controller to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and able to back up the Controller’s job duties in their absence. * While the position does not have direct reports, the financial analyst will provide work direction to the Credit Specialist.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field * Minimum of 2 and maximum of 5 years of relevant, recent and progressive experience * Proficiency in MS Excel * Manufacturing experience a plus * CMA, CPA certifications a plus * Highly analytical with strong data-based decision making. * Strong knowledge of internal controls * Experience working in multi-functional teams being the voice of finance and controls * Project management experience a plus.
