NationBuilder is actively seeking a Controller to manage the finance/accounting operations at our headquarters in downtown Los Angeles. Qualified candidates should have SaaS industry experience and be comfortable with the fast pace of a start-up environment. * Lead all aspects of the accounting function including controls, financial reporting, reconciliations, audits, revenue recognition, payroll, commissions, accounts payable and receivable, fixed asset management, taxes, regulatory filings and stock option accounting * Plan, organize and direct the accounting functions in support of operating objectives including international expansion * “Roll-up the sleeves” as necessary in both reporting and operational issues * Seek to establish world class standards for timely and accurate financial closing and reporting. Leverage technology as applicable to automate financial reporting in alignment with company growth, establishing a highly scalable reporting infrastructure * Development of key financial policies and procedures including compliance and other related policies * Assure proper revenue recognition of complex, multi-element software contracts * Drive a timely monthly close process, quarterly reviews, and annual audits * Preparing quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP * Manage relationship with company’s external auditors and ensure a clean and timely year-end audit * Identify and monitor cost control measures and initiatives on a monthly basis to ensure that the organization is run in a cost-effective manner * Develop and maintain cash management reports * Manage a small local team and coordinate with international offices (and entities) * Serve as the company’s expert for all accounting matters, partnering with other departments (Legal, Sales, IT, and HR) on structuring policies, and advising with respect to accounting and tax implications * Direct and oversee both domestic and international tax structuring, and tax-related policies and procedures * With an external firm, direct the preparation and timely filing of all required tax returns and other statutory filings

* 12-15+ years general accounting experience in public accounting and private industry * Prior hands-on experience in high growth, private companies a plus * SaaS industry experience strongly preferred * Extensive knowledge and experience in U.S. GAAP * Advanced knowledge of international taxation, banking, cash management, regulatory requirements, international operations, inter-company transactions, collections, foreign exchange accounting, and cost control principles are required * Proven, results-oriented manager or leader who can manage, motivate and build a cohesive accounting team * Excellent communication and presentation skills * Ability to partner with management team and develop relationships with operating departments to improve communications and support the objectives of the business * Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects while simultaneously meeting all goals and deadlines * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA strongly preferred * Extraordinary aptitude, a relentless drive toward constant improvement, and an unwavering commitment to utmost excellence in everything you do * Strong bias toward action; eagerness to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to move the company forward
