Summary
The Global Index Marketing Manager is a new role at MSCI and reports to the Global Head of Index Marketing in New York. This person will play a leadership role in driving the growth of MSCI’s index business bringing tangible value in helping executives form and continually refine their business vision and strategies. He or she will work closely with the global index products team to develop a global strategy for our index products. This role is responsible for managing the content, positioning and messaging as well as the development of marketing plans around our indexes. This includes developing a plan for ongoing and regular campaigns around indexes as well as leveraging new index launches. This role will contribute to the growth of the business, increase in market share and influence client buying habits of our products. These activities include but are not limited to: regular proactive marketing our indexes, messaging, development of client material, client emails, communications to sales, PR strategy, developing content for the internet and social media as well as competitive analysis for aggregating metrics and results. This person must have the ability to have both strategic over sight over initiatives and be tactical on delivering on programs as well. This role will partner with various marketing functions in order to deliver a holistic value proposition for our clients.
Responsibilities
- Serves as point of contact for the global index product teams and partners with the Global Head of Index Marketing to ensure marketing strategies and plans are consistent and integrated with the overall marketing global plans - Drives strategy and execution of marketing programs that promote MSCI’s industry-leading product suite of Indexes - Develops an agenda to promote our client-focused initiatives for our index suite and a strategy for organizing and marketing them - A strong understanding of changing index landscape and its impact on the investment process is recommended for this role, as is a good understanding of the target market - Will have direct reports and will be responsible for hiring and managing them - Manage all internal processes around delivering and developing marketing programs to support our index strategy. This includes: - Lead our internal index product launch calls for marketing and defining specific strategies to deliver value to clients and MSCI for each launch - Manage a team to ensure they are aligned with both client and MSCI goals - Write and deliver plans that capture the value-add proposition to our clients and the MSCI advantage to support client pitches and meetings - Regularly highlight internally any progress and momentum by leveraging internal tools, website and email - Regular participation on team calls, management meetings and partnership with the wider index marketing team - Have good networking skills to make connections within MSCI to leverage the intellectual capital of the firm - Manage all external processes around delivering and developing marketing programs to support our index strategy. This includes: - Regular engagement with our client marketing contacts and ability to develop lasting relationships to help deliver marketing support and results on a regular basis - Participation in client meetings to help support product launches when needed - Partnership with Corporate Communications to identify media opportunities - Produce meaningful metrics for the Index business and offer fact-based insights to help guide strategies for brand positioning, client retention and development, pricing, product innovation, industry partnerships, and cost-effective methods for attracting new business to the firm - Integration of index marketing stats, progress points and momentum highlights into client collateral and marketing material - Develop power point presentations, marketing material and collateral on a regular basis to communicate our global story to clients leveraging key regional metrics and data - Partner with events team to ensure they link with our overall marketing objectives and business goals - Develop and manage marketing plans to stimulate ongoing revenue growth and to support special events and initiatives, such as new product launches - Identify key client segments and develop ways to reach each segment with the right products and value propositions - Collaborate with sales, coverage and client service teams to identify marketing challenges, opportunities and find productive ways to address them **Activities include but not limited to:** - Develop network of index relationships by identifying strategic contacts with key clients, prospects, intermediaries, third party index networks, academics and the media to build a global network through targeted activities. - Develop and execute new index product launch marketing plans by partnering with product management and any third parties to drive product project management strategy -- ensuring the effective introduction of new products to the market by liaising on dates, scope, scale and product launch requirements. - Creation of content for marketing campaigns globally by providing compelling benefits-driven content for sales tools and marketing materials to support the product portfolio, including factsheets, sales presentations, website content, newsletter articles and client case studies, adhering to brand and communication guidelines. - Manage marketing projects with local and virtual teams and prioritize activities based on goals and objectives of business.
Ideal Candidate
**Specific Knowledge/Skills:** - Masters/University degree. - Minimum 10 -15 years of experience in relevant marketing experience - Good understanding of the index market and how it impacts the investment process - Ability to understand complex and sometimes contradictory themes and opinions and create unified, consistent messaging. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects/plans and work well under pressure to meet deadlines. - Confident self-starter with proven leadership qualities, ability to work in a matrix work environment and strong partnership skills
