Real Estate Investment Consultant

The Real Estate Investment Consultant will be part of the Real Estate Boutique within Mercer’s Investment Consulting Group. This team member is responsible for monitoring real estate markets and evaluating real estate investment managers to identify those who are most capable of generating value for Mercer's client portfolios and presenting to clients the investment products we research and their prospects for medium to long-term performance relative to its risks.

* Independently perform due diligence on real estate investment management firms and their investment strategies through qualitative and quantitative analysis. * Make recommendations to and verbally follows up with clients based on due diligence in the form of Research notes, which is a written communication outlining the strengths and weaknesses of a given investment strategy and states Mercer's recommendation based on that research * Be proactive and responsible for conducting research, forming opinions, consulting various resources, and publishing papers for general consumption on current events and broad capital market issues including topics as global real estate investing, non-traditional investments and asset allocation modeling * Produce internal and external presentations by utilizing knowledge of macro-economic conditions and the real estate market * Ability to work with clients to assist in determining strategic directions of real estate allocation as well as other responsibilities as required and produce reports documenting such work

* MBA, CFA or equivalent experience preferred * Five to ten years of experience in institutional, real estate investment management or consulting * Strong background in investment analysis, real estate or portfolio management * Demonstrated analytical capabilities, excellent writing and communication skills * Ability to travel regularly to visit with managers, clients and investment consultants located across the country
