Senior Investment Officer - Real Assets Investments

The Virginia Retirement System administers pension plans and other benefits for Virginia’s public sector employees covered under VRS.

The Virginia Retirement System’s (VRS) Real Assets Investment team in the Investment Department is seeking an experienced professional to assist with the management and oversight of the real assets investment portfolio.

• The candidate will participate as a key team member in a broad range of portfolio management activities, including formulation of strategy, portfolio reporting and analysis, due diligence for new investments and risk management in a broad capital market context.
• This position will collaborate with the team to ensure accurate analysis and reporting of investment performance and portfolio exposures.
• Responsibilities will include evaluating and monitoring external managers investing in a broad array of domestic and international investment strategies.
• For specific accounts, the candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the investment process.

• The VRS expects the candidate to have substantial experience related to real assets investments and an understanding of real assets capital markets.
• The candidate will have strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, good negotiating skills and the ability to effectively communicate with internal staff, clients, external managers and legal counsel.
• The successful candidate must have an aptitude for economics, finance, accounting and quantitative analysis.
• VRS prefers candidates with either an MBA, CFA, CPA or equivalent academic training and a high level of computer proficiency.
