Summary
Responsible for processing new business submissions, underwriting and servicing of life, disability, annuities and long term care insurance. The Case Manager handles a case from the proposal stage, through the application process, to policy issuance, delivery and servicing. The Case Manager serves as the liaison between carriers and/or brokerage offices, clients and the producers.
Responsibilities
To manage the underwriting process which includes utilizing a database system to facilitate the timely issuance and placement of new business. These duties include handling paperwork from multiple insurance carriers and various product types. Responsibilities include keeping clients and producers up to date with underwriting status, scheduling medical exams and gathering medical and financial records in order to satisfy all underwriting requirements. Will complete and check the application package for accuracy and communicate directly with the carriers to help secure the best possible underwriting offers. Once issued the Case Manager’s responsibilities include preparing the policy for delivery and ultimately transitioning the case to enforce status for ongoing servicing. This requires updating the database with all policy changes when they take place. The Case Manager must meet our firm’s mission of “creating peace of mind by passionately delivering exceptional service to our clients, colleagues, carriers and community.” The Case Manager is also expected to be able to run basic and/or request life, disability or LTC quotes as well as obtaining required marketing materials to assist the producer in putting together client presentations. A willingness to participate as a team member in special projects is essential as well as attending industry meetings. Continuing education is required while obtaining industry designations is encouraged and supported.
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications:** Ability to work autonomously and perform well under pressure. Strong attention to detail with ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with set deadlines. Knowledge of underwriting concepts and life, disability, and long term care insurance products. Knowledge of medical terminology and risk factors. Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential data. Strong negotiation and decision-making skills. Ability to effectively contribute both as a team member and leader. **Education and /or Experiences:** Bachelor’s Degree plus two years of insurance experience or other combination of education and insurance experience totaling six years. **Certificates, Licenses, Registration:** Life and Health license – required. NASD License – desirable.
