Summary
The Plant Manager, reporting directly to the CEO, is responsible for all plant functions including maintenance, manufacturing, production, purchasing and supply chain. Key focuses will include driving manufacturing, oversight / establishment of formalized business processes and procedures (“best practices”), installing LEAN manufacturing practices, and coordinating production efforts to meet and exceed customer expectation in terms of safety, quality, delivery time and cost. The Plant Manager will have Board exposure, highlighting progress in throughput, quality and cost. The department Supervisors will report directly to the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
* Manage all facility operations in the manufacturing site * Define and recommends strategic objectives in every functional area of responsibility * Drive the adoption of Lean best practices, acting as a mentor and coach to the production staff * Identify and launch a series of operational metrics to drive efficiency in the organization, and adopt principles of visual management * Ensure products are made to the highest of quality standards * Work to meet cost and safety guidelines, and at the same time meet customers’ expectations and requirements * Spearhead activities aimed to improve labor efficiency, material management, utilization of capital, on-time delivery (OTD) and engineering * Establish the short and long-term financial plans and programs in the Operations area * Approve and manage the facility budget * Assure strategic and divisional production and sales goals are met as well as long term profitability and competitiveness * Recruit, train, establishes objectives for direct reports * Assist in evaluating target company add-ons, supporting long term company growth plans * Indirectly manages 125 employees through reporting supervisors/managers. * Integrate add-on companies into the production process as company acquires target companies to continue its long term growth plans * Control an annual budget of ~$15M * Responsible for around $25-35M in annual sales.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree minimum (no exceptions) * Master’s degree is a plus (Engineering or Operations discipline or MBA) * 8+ years experience in Plant Management or light Manufacturing Management * **Lean manufacturing** knowledge is a must * Experience in setting and driving a **metric driven** production environment is a must * **Global sourcing** experience is a must * Ability to develop strong teams, a collaborative atmosphere and positive culture * Experience in fashion or apparel industry is helpful but not required * Strong background in training and employee development
