Summary
The Social Media Director will lead Macy’s social media strategy including social media buying as well as content strategy. This role focuses on customer engagement, fostering brand loyalty, driving sales, acquiring new customers, and driving innovation. The Director will work closely with Macy’s media buying agency, merchandise marketing, media relations (PR), finance, and Macys.com teams as well as 3rd party agency partners to create a seamless omnichannel shopping experience. The Social Media Director will also advocate for and drive innovation in the social media space and act as internal Macy’s social media subject matter expert. Responsibilities
**Social Direct Response and Media Buying:** * Develop Macy’s social direct response programs across applicable social media platforms that result in measurable online and in-store sales conversions * Partner with analytics teams to measure the impact of social media on the overall marketing efforts and establish common metrics and benchmarks * Manage social media budget and support merchandise marketing team to build out co-op plans * Collaborate with display, print & broadcast teams to build holistic media plans * Work closely with the Media Agency on vendor selection and project implementation, taking into consideration key performance indicators and added value opportunities **Social Media Strategy and Planning:** * Develop a comprehensive customer-centric roadmap for social media at Macy’s * Craft the social media strategy for Macy’s and Backstage brands, inclusive of publishing/engagement tactics, driving commerce, acquiring new customers, retaining core customers, and increasing brand loyalty * Craft and manage Macy’s social media publishing calendar, based on Macy’s consumer activation strategy; ensure consistency of brand messages across multiple social media channels * Monitor social media trends and make recommendations to senior leadership on how to develop social media capability including talent, skills, tools and platforms, and how to make better marketing mix decisions **Team & Collaboration:** * Build productive and collaborative relationships with key partners/teams, including merchandise marketing, creative, agency teams, and vendor account teams, to execute against brand social strategy * Manage the professional development of four direct reports
Ideal Candidate
* BA required, MBA preferred * 3-5+ years social marketing experience; 7+ years traditional media experience working for industry-leading company with significant media budgets in the area of social marketing media/digital marketing. Agency experience a plus. * Must have deep knowledge of social direct response strategies across applicable social media platforms. * Exposure to programmatic media buying techniques preferred * Experience managing an in-house team of 2-4 marketing professionals * Background working with the retail industry, media agency, consumer brand, or a multi-unit company with a field organization (e.g. fashion, automotive, entertainment, etc.) preferred
