Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will shift and grow but to start with, you will: * Proactively and innovatively support a broad spectrum of HR areas such as benefits, compensation, policy and procedures, career development, leadership training, employee relations, performance management, management coaching, and change management. * Teach high-level management/leadership training courses. * Research and recommend possible perks & wellness program options. * Own compensation like a boss, building upon and improving current structure. * Create, communicate, and apply company policies with a helpful heart. * Provide friendly and sage interpretation of and consultation to employees on policy, performance, and employee relation issues. * Coach managers in managing employee performance issues using our playbook values as guideposts. * Lead efforts to assess talent, identify succession plans, and create development plans. * Identify training and development opportunities, both in terms of recommending topics that speak to our particular challenges and culture, and also in terms of the materials and/or provider. * Follow emerging trends and progressive HR best practices, applying and making informed recommendations to help our organization continuously improve. * Take on and run with complex / urgent / confidential projects, putting together polished, high level artifacts for co-founders. * Cultivate excellent working relationships with managers and employees to foster a high-functioning and positive professional work environment. * You'll be a highly visible team member! This means: speaking publicly in our all-hand meetings and being customer-facing as you intensively partner with employees, managers, co-founders, vendors, etc.
Ideal Candidate
**What you've done:** * 5+ years of HR Generalist or HR Business Partner experience - this is a must! * Experience in a fast-paced, startup environment - you'll be building things as we grow! * Experience with public speaking and teaching developmental materials * Experience owning a compensation and rewards function * Experience building and administering a training program * Experience creating succession plans * Unwavering discretion and an undisputed ability to safeguard confidential information. Your nickname could be "The Vault"! * Proven track record successfully navigating high pressure HR situations such as employee relations, performance, and/or terminations. * Finally, you are able to take the ball and run (far!) with minimal instruction and oversight. You're a self-starter and a self-finisher. **Who you are:** * You're an extrovert and shine your brightest when talking to and helping people. * You have a firm grasp on HR best practices, but are creative and open to new ideas. * You are committed to building a strategic and harmonious alignment among "people needs" and "business needs." * You're able to stay on top of a multitude of details and priorities, which change constantly. :-) * You easily shift into heavy research/analytical mode. * You stay calm under pressure. * You're mature and humble enough to process constructive feedback. * You have impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, and can succinctly communicate both complex and highly charged information. * You're charismatic, warm, and positive - because of this, employees love working with you! * Technology is your friend, not your foe, and you harness it to streamline your work.
