Summary
Inmar, Inc. is seeking a professional to join our Accounting team as a Fixed Asset Staff Accountant. Candidate will be responsible for owning fixed asset accounting process including account analysis and reconciliations for company subsidiaries, including those located in Mexico and/or Canada. This position requires that the candidate be able to work independently and collaboratively with other members of the Corporate Staff and the Finance Groups of the various operating units.
Responsibilities
* Ensure all transactions are posted accurately and timely (depreciation, additions, disposals and transfers). Determine if proper accounting treatment has been applied (capital vs expense). * Responsible for fixed asset clearing accounts transactions including research, posting and correction in collaboration with tax and finance groups. * Reconciles and maintains fixed asset accounts in Great Plains and assists in researching and resolving reconciling items with Fixed Asset Manager subledgers. * Performs physical inventories of fixed assets and monitors and implements tracking system for fixed assets on hand. * Assist with the preparation of schedules for the annual financial statement audit, participate in fixed asset system maintenance and upgrades, assists with the annual and interim capital budgets and related items, and perform other duties as assigned. * Assist with the development and maintenance of fixed asset policies and procedures including procurement, addition, accounting transactions, thresholds, maintenance and disposal. * Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual external reporting, such as unaudited bank packages, etc. * Support all business unit Finance personnel in managing fixed asset accountability, as well as support them in the monthly ad hoc reporting processes. * Perform ad hoc fixed asset analysis for management.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) with a major in accounting, finance or related field * 2 – 3 years of prior fixed asset accounting experience required * Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and fixed asset accounting concepts * Analytical aptitude – strong problem solving skills; math aptitude * Ability to travel ~ 25% * Hands on, take ownership mentality * Standard office practices and accounting procedures on automated systems
