Responsibilities
- Receives and processes supply and special order request forms. - Replenishes specialty carts, kits, special trays, and other special packs. - Provides supply stocking and par levels for specific departments using inventory work sheets. - Cleans, decontaminates, and reprocesses medical equipment. - Is responsible for recording important information in the appropriate log books and on log sheets. - Enters department and patient charges in computer system. - Distributes supplies and equipment as needed. - Projects an image of professionalism in, communication, appearance and conduct. - Supports the supply chain management and hospital mission. - Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Performs other duties as assigned. **Other Duties:** - Answers the telephone with a smile and pleasant voice. Identifies self and department. - Logs all calls and supply request on Central Services log sheet. Checks off items on log sheet, including time item left department when delivered. Accurately maintains all log sheets, books and reports with efficiency. - Signs and dates all supply request appropriately. - Collects correct supply items and equipment, labels collected items with patient room #’s and tapes to supplies/equipment. Completes paperwork accurately when filling supply orders. Files appropriately. - Properly fills out rental equipment tags and attaches tags to rental equipment when appropriate. Logs rental equipment appropriately. - Appropriately fills out special order request forms for specialty beds and orthopedic supplies/equipment. Correctly calculates cost for service and enters patient charge in computer. Forwards paperwork to supervisor. - Properly fills out credit slips for items returned from departments. Utilizes the appropriate inventory adjustment account numbers when applicable. - Accurately fills requests and requisitions for department supply orders. - Collects, sorts, prioritizes, enters and completes all floor, and outpatient charges in computer accurately and efficiently. Completes daily charge records report. (CC - Marks equipment and supplies appropriately and delivers to the correct nursing units/departments. - Collects soiled equipment, carts, and instruments from nursing units/departments. (Routine and un-scheduled). Distributes clean supplies and equipment to requesting units. - Prepares and completes special trays, carts, and kits etc. - Checks ALL DME (durable medical equipment) for parts and functionality. Attaches yellow “OUT OF SERVICE” sticker when necessary. - Assembles portable suctions correctly. - Checks PCA pumps for batteries and functionality. - Sends broken equipment to biomedical services with appropriate documentation of problem. - Efficiently and accurately completes monthly quality assurance checks for crash carts. - Properly and thoroughly cleans DME equipment using an appropriate EPA approved cleaning agent. Wears proper protective decontamination attire. (i.e. Safety gloves, gowns, face shield mask). - Checks ALL crash cart defibillators, in Central, for functionality and logs results in proper book. - Reads shift report daily documents pertinent information. - Assists with receipt, distribution, and storage of supplies and equipment. - Proactively monitors supplies when doing shelf assignments. Places appropriate stock-out and substitution notices on shelves or carts when necessary. Reports supply stock-outs to supervisor. - When assigned a beeper, responds in a timely manner (within 3 minutes). - Maintains clean and orderly workstation. - Performs job function in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. - Maintains current knowledge of departmental updates and Policies & procedures. - Accommodates changes in workload within the department. - During light workload situations, seeks, out additional tasks/duties for the department. - Demonstrates flexibility in accepting schedule and work assignments. - Keeps supervisor informed when problems may interfere with work being completed timely. - Exercises authority when appropriate, recognizing needs and directing activities to departmental advantage. - Uses initiative to resolve problems with appropriate action and follow through, including documentation for CQI. - Participates in the training of new employees, and offers guidance, assistance and direction to less experienced personnel. - Adapts to changes or unusual circumstances to promote cooperation and minimize disruption to working environment. - Responds appropriately to inquiries and complaints. - Accurately performs computer functions. - Works as a team through collaboration and camaraderie in assuring that all assignments and work is completed at the end of each shift.
Ideal Candidate
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent; must have ability to follow instructions with operating equipment and other machinery. **Skills or Other Qualifications Required:** - Good verbal and written communication skills. * Must be able to speak, read, and write, the English language. * Able to perform work independently and is self-directed. * Must have the ability to plan and coordinate work as required with frequent changes in workload.
