Summary
We want you to join our team as the Senior Manager, Learning & Development to help us build the leadership capabilities of GitHub’s managers. You’ll primarily be responsible for creating a foundational management curriculum and programs to support practice and reinforce learning over time. Supporting employees’ career growth through other professional development programs will also be an important aspect of this role. You will design and execute innovative enterprise-wide leadership and social learning opportunities that leverage both GitHub’s internal tools as well as current best practices in talent development. In keeping with our philosophy of work anywhere, anytime, this role can be based in SF or remotely in one of the 33 U.S. states that we are currently set up to hire from. Some travel should be expected.
Responsibilities
* Develop and manage our global manager and professional development programs, with special emphasis on meeting the needs of a globally distributed workforce * Design and facilitate workshops on various topics as needed, such as basic interviewing, performance management, leveraging employee feedback, etc. * Partner with key stakeholders around the company to Identify and develop new talent programs that address emerging needs, such as mentoring or rotational experiences * Create learning “laboratories” to experiment with ways to practice skill building and share learning across the organization using both in-person and virtual tools * Identify external partners for training content and delivery and manage all aspects of these relationships, from contract negotiation to scheduling * Conduct training needs assessments through surveying, focus groups and interviews * Develop metrics and methods for evaluating effectiveness of established programs
Ideal Candidate
* Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. * Relevant experience designing and implementing impactful learning and development programs for a diverse and distributed workforce * Demonstrated expertise in leadership development and the latest learning technologies * Proven ability to develop data-driven recommendations * Strong facilitation and written communication skills * Excellent coaching and relationship building skills * Strong project management skills * Highly adaptable to a rapidly changing environment **Bonus if you Have:** * Knowledge of Git and experience using GitHub * Certification in any assessment instruments, such as MBTI, Situational Leadership, Enneagram, etc. * Content creation experience using a variety of authoring tools such as: video, Prezi, Audacity, etc.
