Manager

Created in 1962 through the merger of three Girl Scout Councils, the mission of Girl Scouts of Central Maryland is to develop girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

Duties and Responsibilities: Graphic Design: - Develop and lay out functional, creative and attractive designs that communicate the mission of girl scouting. - Follow and ensure compliance with GSUSA graphic guidelines for all printed materials and stay within GSUSA branding image. - Educate and train staff about brand/design guidelines. - Serve as lead designer for council collaterals, publications and marketing materials. - Work with internal clients to conceptualize projects and create design solutions for diverse marketing and public relations needs, including creation of copy for various collaterals. - Work in collaboration with the Web & Social Media Specialist to ensure all digital marketing materials, visuals and graphics are brand compliant. Production Services - Direct and manage the Production Services department which includes print, mail and office supply services, to ensure accurate and timely distribution of deliverables; ensure the department maintains quality customer service by effectively coordinating and communicating with vendors, GSCM staff, volunteers, and outside customers about their job. - Manage the timeline for design, production and mail services to ensure project deadlines are met. - Manage and direct the work of the Print Media Production Specialist to ensure accurate and timely production services; ensure monthly reports are completed and submitted as scheduled. - Process Production Services team invoices to ensure timely payment. Other duties: - Participate and/or provide input for contract specifications; assist with and/or negotiate contracts as appropriate. - Establish a plan to promote GSCM Production Services to potential customers to provide additional income for the Council. - Serve as the photographer at internal and external Girl Scout events and manage a photo library which is organized by themes, such as cookies, camp, programs, etc. - Establish and oversee a cost-effective solution for a centralized tracking system for all production, mail services and office supply inventory. - Identify opportunities to reduce costs within the Production Services department, ensure reports of cost savings are generated as scheduled. - Serve on the coucil leadership team, participating in problem solving and brainstorming activities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of all council opeations. - Contribute to the creatiion of an inclusive organization by working harmoniously with diverse staff and volunteer personnel and ensuring that all systems, practices and procedures are inclusive. - Ensure the Production Services Team engages in GSCM events and activities, as appropriate, to help increase their knowledge of the organization, as well as promote GSCM’s Production Services to the community.

- Membership in the Girl Scout Movement is required - Minimum of two years supervision and relevant experience preferred. - Must have the ability to use Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite; access to e-mail and the Internet - Solid negotiation, oral and written communication skills with proven ability to write informative, compelling copy for print and web use. - Ability to perform multiple duties independently with a minimum of supervision. - Must be comfortable in Mac and PC environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and graphics programs, CS3, photography, website and/or social media experience a plus. - Must have access to an automobile and possess valid Maryland driver’s license and have proof of insurance. - Must be able to lift 35 pounds without difficulty. - Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates; some weekends and evenings required.
