Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Director of University Communications and Director of Marketing Communications to ensure that the graphic identity standards of the institution are updated and maintained in all communications - Implements design and/or production of communications, advertising, web and publication projects in support of the University's programs, events and outreach - Provides art direction and performs graphic design, photography and production related to University publications, web site, events, marketing materials, environmental graphics and other projects - Performs graphic design, photography and layout duties related to University publications, web site, events, marketing materials and other projects as assigned - Takes projects from the design concept through production, print and distribution process - Prepares requests for bid specifications and maintains productive relationships with printers and other vendors - Gathers printing quotes and prepares files for printing - Performs photography duties as assigned. - Takes proactive steps to ensure strong relationships with other administrative and academic units so that marketing/image goals can be achieved - Responsible for coordinating the brokering and management of print publications with printers
Ideal Candidate
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's degree (preferred) or Associate's degree in graphic design or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Minimum of two years of experience in graphic design and layout, preferably in an academic environment. - Web design experience preferred. Photography and/or videography experience preferred. - Experience using video-editing software such as Final Cut Pro preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY: - Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator - Knowledge of Dreamweaver or other web editing software and applications, preferred - Ability to approach print and electronic design projects creatively and collaboratively, while maintaining the graphic design and editorial standards of the University - Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently; ability to set and meet deadlines - Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with clients and colleagues - Ability to take creative and professional-quality photographs with University equipment for use in print and digital communications
