Summary
Working independently, the Solutions Architect provides technical knowledge and direction to internal customers within the IT Development organization for the purpose of solving technology-related business problems. As a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, this role is instrumental in developing sustainable solutions that comply with and achieve the IT strategy and standards for the enterprise. The architect interacts with a supervisor as needed, but most activities will require independent thought and decision making. The role is generally characterized has having basic levels of scope and organizational complexity, a moderate level of technical complexity, and a basic-to-moderate level of independent decision making.
Responsibilities
* Define the appropriate placement of functionality and data within technology-based business solutions * Define services (SOA) to be provided by an application to other enterprise systems * Define the strategy, patterns, and technologies for integrating applications within a solution * Define the deployment architecture of a solution * Collaborate with technical architects to define operational aspects of the solutions (infrastructure, security, network, integration, etc.) * Define the operational plan for each application within a solution * Apply enterprise standards, policies, patterns and reference architectures to all solutions * Maintain an accurate product inventory that describes the technology enablement of business capabilities * Assist Enterprise Architects with the evaluation of commercial-off-the-shelf and partner-provided modified or unmodified solutions * Assist Enterprise Architects with the development of application and information roadmaps for achieving the defined future state architecture * Mentor application architects and technical development leads for the purpose of growing future solution architects * Provide leadership to application architects and development teams in delivering the business solution * Manage relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization; adhere consistently with all organizational policies related to our respectful workplace * Demonstrate a consistent commitment to field-focused service by prioritizing field-based requests, responding quickly and favorably to field-based feedback, by minimizing tasks, and proactively seeking ways to help store teams focus on customer service as productively as possible * Work collaboratively with others within and outside of his or her function to achieve goals, simply processes, reduce costs, prevent loss, and to ensure that work is completed safely, accurately, and on time * Responsible for adhering consistently with all employment policies as stated in the employee handbook provided or as provided by his or her supervisor * Model the high level of customer service expected of all GameStop associates including, but not limited to, responding to voice mails and emails within organizationally defined timeframes, completing projects as committed, responding to others’ feedback appropriately, and making optimal use of organizationally limited resources by offering assistance to other functional teams when appropriate * Model team commitment by adhering to the team's expectations and guidelines; fulfilling team responsibilities; and demonstrating personal commitment to the team by being cooperative, collaborative, and flexible

* Communication – Able to communicate effectively and efficiently, verbally and in writing, in clear, concise and relevant terms. * Collaboration – Working effectively and cooperatively with others, establishing and maintaining good working relationships, contributing to team success. * Work Standards – Setting high standards of performance for self and others; assuming responsibility and accountability for successful completion of tasks; self-imposing standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed. * Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills – Having achieved a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeping up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise. **BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)** * Bachelor of Science with a regionally accredited program in Computer Science or technical equivalent, M.S. in Computer Science or technical equivalent preferred * 5+ years of experience with architecting IT solutions in one of the following domains: eCommerce, Store Point-of-Sale, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Marketing, Business Intelligence, Finance, HR, including modeling applications, information, integration, and solution deployments; service oriented architecture; retail experience preferred. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES** * Expert knowledge of application architecture patterns * Expert knowledge of application integration patterns * Proficient knowledge of security patterns (SSO, SAML, PKI, SSL, IdM, OAuth, etc.) * Proficient knowledge of system engineering patterns (Intel architecture, Linux/Win OS) * Proficient knowledge of ITIL-based operational processes * Proficient ability to handle large solution assignments * Ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical professionals throughout the organization, using spoken and written English * Ability to provide effective, technical leadership in teams with a matrixes leadership structure * Proficient ability to work collaboratively with others; conduct working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization * Proficient ability to remain effective under stress, and respond to pressure in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization * Proficient knowledge of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word * Demonstrated ability to model customer-focused behaviors leading to outstanding customer experiences * Consistently demonstrates a commitment to GameStop policies and procedures, including but not limited to, attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and ethical responsibilities
