Summary
The Business Development Director is responsible for identifying, pursuing and closing strategic agreements with companies around Content Acquisition and Technology Enabling Partnerships (“Partners”). The Business Development Director will 'hunt” for deals with (i) companies on a predetermined list that has been established by management and with (ii) companies that he/she identifies as of strategic importance to DataSift.He/She will do this by leveraging his/her own network as well as the network of the executive team, while also expanding upon relationships through networking, speaking engagements, alliances and organization involvement. This person must have (i) a sound understanding of the business issues that C-level executives face at Global 2000 companies, (ii) how our services can help solve those business issues and (iii) how strategic partnerships can enhance the impact that DataSift can have on its clients. Once established, the Business Development Director will work to maintain and grow relationships on an ongoing basis.
Responsibilities
* Ability to identify future potential partnerships that will enhance the value of the Datasift services by having a strong understanding of the current offering and technical roadmap * Employ strong research & analytical skills to uncover the key business pains and opportunities for potential Partners * Act as a trusted advisor to prospect Partners, demonstrating ability to build long term sustainable corporate relationships * Ability to generate new relationships with executive decision makers in organizations * Excite Partners by articulating the value proposition (and differentiation within the market) of the company's entire suite of services offered to end customers * Facilitate deal opportunities by working effectively as a team member, informing and orchestrating the internal and external resources needed to effectively manage the deal process * Manage intricate deal negotiations with prospective partners and involve DataSift executives as appropriate * Work directly with the Product/Engineering organization to asses and visualize product plan, during negotiation through implementation * Work directly with the Sales and Marketing organization to asses market opportunity and viability, during negotiation through implementation * Consistently execute on opportunities that provide profitable revenue to DataSift from Partner sources * Build financial models, including costs and potential revenue to set benchmark ROIs. Measure and report results from implementation through success * Accurately forecast the business opportunities on a consistent basis
Ideal Candidate
**Required Education** * Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree **Minimum Requirements** * 10 year + proven and extensive business development track record * A business focused technical background * Demonstrated success of prospecting and closing strategic partnerships with major enterprise partners * Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and relationship management skills * Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities * Experience translating negotiations to formalized business contracts * Ability to prioritize opportunities, overcome obstacles, obtain results, and finesse the deal * Well organized, ability to coordinate internal and external resources with detailed project management skills * Need to be okay with extensive travel in the US and abroad to Asia and Europe, particularly the UK
