Summary
CEB (NYSE: CEB) is seeking an experienced researcher and/or data scientist to direct our Workforce Analytics program in CEB’s Talent Management Labs. The Director for Workforce Analytics will be responsible for leading a team of psychologists, economists, and data analysts working directly with CEB client organizations to develop predictive and prescriptive models of workforce performance and other outcomes. The Director will be a “hands on leader” – actively participating in the creation of new models using innovative methods and multiple forms of data – often directly with clients in a consultative setting. The Director will also work collaboratively across CEB’s business units and groups to ensure a coordinated effort to develop our talent data and workforce analytic capabilities. Finally, the Director will be one of CEB’s experts actively networking externally with, and learning from, clients, analytic and data experts, business leaders, and academics.
Responsibilities
* The Director will be responsible for research and development efforts to identify potential applications of Workforce Analytics for CEB’s businesses. Central to the leader’s objectives will be conceptualizing and testing analytic solutions that answer the most challenging talent management questions with the best available data and with the most advanced analytical techniques. As a result, central to the leader’s responsibilities will be leading the development of analytic models – descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive – that are simultaneously sophisticated, practical, and impactful. The leader will manage a global team of research scientists and analysts tasked with developing the firm’s workforce analytics capabilities – largely through collaborative “proof of concept” projects and applied workforce analytic research with CEB clients (typically Fortune 1000 companies). The Director will be responsible for managing collaborative projects with clients – essentially serving as the consultative leader on these “engagements.” * Ultimately the leader and their team are responsible for scaling and transferring their work into workforce analytic solutions and insights for CEB’s customers: business executives and their staff. As such, the leader will need to work closely with CEB’s product managers and commercial teams to develop and deliver high quality analytic solutions. * In summary, the Director will: * Conceptualize, prioritize, and lead workforce analytics “R&D”, including “proof of concept” and collaboration projects with clients. * Design, manage, coach and personally conduct (as required) workforce analyses using multiple methods and analytical techniques (statistics, econometrics, forecasting, etc.) as necessary to answer critical talent management questions of strategic and tactical importance. * Align and transfer developed analytic capabilities, models, and insights to CEB’s business groups. * Identify the product, technology and skill requirements necessary to build our workforce analytics capability (and data assets) within the Talent Management Group and across CEB. * Manage (and build over time) a dedicated, global team to conduct workforce analytics and support workforce analytic and product development across the firm, * In addition, CEB places a premium on internal collaboration and “network performance.” The leader will be expected to work with other senior leaders to achieve key business objectives.
Ideal Candidate
* Education, Experience and Qualifications: * Advanced degree in a quantitative, research oriented discipline, with experience providing consultative or advisory services to business leaders. * Educational qualifications including: * Preferred: PhD in Economics, Econometrics, Policy Analysis, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, and/or Business with a proven record in quantitative research, modeling, and/or analytics. * Considered: PhD in Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics and “The Sciences” with experience in applied business analysis, consulting and/or research. * Minimum of 5 years of applied experience using analysis and data science to support business decisions, including experience modeling complex business, policy or “management” problems. * Expertise in multiple, quantitative research and analytic methods, including applied statistics, econometrics, multivariate regression and/or causal modelling. * Minimum of 3 years of experience using both structured and unstructured data, with a preference for experience in building data sets through multiple sources, aligning disparate data sets, and working with large data sets. * Proficiency in analytical and statistical software packages, such as R, SPSS and STATA is required (with a willingness to learn and use R, as well as work across multiple packages if required). * Ability to translate business/product objectives into actionable analyses is required. * Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to executive and expert audiences in reports and presentations is required. * Experience and demonstrated success managing a multi-disciplinary team and/or a cross-functional team. * Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships – including managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
