Summary
The HSS Value Management Office is responsible for the development and execution of the HSS Value Strategy. This strategy includes the development and incorporation of quality measurement tools into clinical practice in order to measure quality regularly and to facilitate continuous value improvement. The strategy is informed by scientific evidence as well as local and national market analyses. Under the direct supervision of the Chief Value Medical Officer, this position serves a critical role in support of a key strategic priority for HSS. HSS endeavors to become a national leader in defining and quantifying value in orthopedics.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement perspectives on optimal ways to measure value for the hospital * Provide input to internal stakeholders around optimal ways to communicate the HSS value proposition to external audiences * Partner with senior leadership to develop external-facing marketing collateral on value to be used with key external stakeholders * Identify resources for information which can be used to evaluate value within HSS and at other hospitals which deliver musculoskeletal care * Stay informed of changes in value measurement in musculoskeletal healthcare delivery * Work with Chief Value Medical Officer to evaluate and develop new quality measures specific to musculoskeletal healthcare delivery * Perform analyses of HSS performance on value metrics and develop dashboards to trend progress * Help develop value improvement strategies and methods to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies; perform analyses to assess effectiveness * Perform analyses on large administrative data bases including those of SPARCS, MedPar, Medicare and commercial payers to evaluate patterns of quality, utilization and value that will inform the HSS approach to value management * Provide input and leadership to junior analyst and research resources focused on measurement of value
Ideal Candidate
* Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline * At least 2 years in an analytically-heavy role (e.g. consulting, research, marketing) * Demonstrated ability to think strategically about data end-use * Exceptional work ethic **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:** * Master’s degree in biostatistics, health outcomes, or related field, such as clinical epidemiology * At least 2 years work experience in a clinical setting * Knowledge and experience in quality measures and measurement * Ability to interpret technical medical data and generate sound recommendations to support quality research efforts * Experience in hospital value evaluation is ideal * Prior experience translating data for lay audiences, including the production of presentations for senior-level audiences * Past experience managing junior analyst or research resources * Past experience quantifying value in orthopedics and deep expertise working with related administrative datasets (SPARCS, HCUP, Medicare’s Standard Analytic File, commercial administrative datasets) * Strong proficiency in statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS, R, Stata)
