Summary

One of their most recently successes, Episode, is building a storytelling platform for the 2 billion+ mobile users around the world that will be the home for millions of hit user generated animated stories that can be created by any author via our online portal. Since launching in 2014, we’ve had over 1.25 billion chapters read and 2 million storyteller sign-ups on our platform. Analytics plays a crucial role in our decision making process, acting as a cornerstone of both our day to day operations and our long-term strategy. As a data scientist, you will combine your strategic and analytical skill sets to develop, test, and analyze hypotheses that will have a far-reaching impact on the success of Episode. We are looking for someone with some recommendation chops and/or a solid machine learning background. Areas of focus will include helping our team evaluate story quality and building out our recommendation engine to help keep our players engaged in the ever growing catalogue of material that we offer.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Episode studio to help identify quality stories and develop a recommendation system. * Mentor product managers and content designers when they conduct their own analysis * Track results for Episode and create models and frameworks to better understand and predict user behavior * Perform ad hoc analyses as needed * Assist in the development of analytics tools and systems to help build out the analytics platform * Collaborate with and aid fellow members of the analytics team
Ideal Candidate
* 2+ years of work experience with 1+ years work experience in data science - experience in quantitative consulting, behavioural modeling,and quantitative research also a plus * Experience with machine learning and building recommendation engines * Strong skills in Excel, SQL and statistics tools such as SAS, R, Python (Numpy or Pandas), or STATA, strongly preferred * BA/BS in quantitative discipline required (economics, statistics, math, physics, engineering etc.) * Advanced degree in economics, statistics, mathematics prefered * Strong interest in novels, tv, movies, comics, or other similar entertainment * Experience presenting and explaining technical results to a variety of audiences * Willingness and excitement to explain your work to key stakeholders in order to help them improve our products
