Summary
Oversee, plan and direct daily functions of Human Resource operations and activities to maximize the strategic objectives and value in areas such as employee relations, safety, compensation, benefits, recruitment, policies, procedures and regulatory compliance. Diagnoses problems and provides appropriate recommendations to resolve issues; and partakes in the development and implementation of new policies, programs and procedures.
Responsibilities
* Be a core part of the business strategy, not just the functional approach * Play a key partner / coach role for the plant manager and operations team * Lead with energy and expertise for the full scope of Human Resource (HR) functions including all aspects of professional relations, hourly relations, employee benefits, compensation, employee involvement, practices, training, safety, organizational change & development and communications * Coach and advise the plant manager and operations teams to achieve the best outcomes * Lead out in front in recruiting, selection, performance management and career development * Take a key role in safety and operational excellence initiatives. * Learn and adapt to changing situations to win for our customers, adapt practices with speed and finesse in socializing the change * Provide counsel in the design and implementation of compensation and recognition programs * Provide support or deliver training on a variety of Human Resources topics including coaching and compliance * Facilitate communications throughout the organization * Act as an impartial advocate to administer Company policies and ensure that all individuals receive fair and equitable treatment. Actively assist in dispute or concern resolution * Develop appropriate human resource plans in support of key business needs in a dynamic, changing environment and develop / implement appropriate change management plans as required * Manage employee files and complete documentation requirements * Stay well-informed of changes to local, state and federal regulations. Promotes adherence to applicable laws and pending legislation. * Ensures that Open Enrollment for assigned locations is conducted in accordance to company requirements * Manages all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Caraustar accounting policies and financial control procedures. Ensures that others are trained and aware of the requirements of the Caraustar Standards of Business Conduct Policy. * Comply in all respects with the provisions of the Caraustar Standards of Business Conduct Policy required.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree preferred and 4+ years’ experience in human resources. * Knowledge of general Human Resource practices such as laws, policies and procedures a must. * Ability to communicate verbally and written in English and Spanish is required. * Self-directed in accomplishing duties and responsibilities. * Must be able to communicate proficiently in both oral and written form. * Must have excellent interpersonal skills. * Ability to multi-task and manage time essential. * Must be able to work efficiently under tight deadlines. * Organization skills a must. * Must be able to direct the work of others. * Ability to use Microsoft Office software. * Ability to actively listen a must. * Must be able to resolve conflict in a timely manner.
