Summary
The Personal Lines Account Manager performs the essential functions of the position, which include sales, service and claims. Specific service responsibilities are fulfilling the clients’ requests and assisting producers as necessary. Marketing activity is required in the position to meet sales, service, and quality standards adopted by the agency.
Responsibilities
* Receive phone calls and office visitors requesting changes to existing coverage and/or new policies. Determine acceptability and placement, complete applications or endorsement requests and collect premium when applicable * Review existing accounts to determine if additional lines of insurance should be solicited and do so by mail and phone * Handle premium collection and cancel policies when necessary * Negotiate policy conditions and terms with selected companies * Review renewals to determine if non-standard policies can be rewritten in a standard program. Prepare rewrite applications for business from companies no longer represented. Secure and submit required renewal underwriting information * Maintain own automated follow-up and suspense on outstanding orders and correspondence. Follow up on all overdue and suspense items * Maintain underwriting files in an orderly, up-to-date manner * Actively solicit increases in coverage or rounding out accounts through sales to clients at every service contact * Actively refer clients to Life/Health and Commercial Lines departments for solicitation of new business * Actively seek referrals from current client base to solicit for new business prospects; follow up to generate new business using prospect database and system. * Process renewals and remarket, as needed * Process claims * Maintain customer’s account on agency automation system, documenting conversations in activity log, sending confirmations to insured’s and adhering to all other automation procedures * Prepare summaries of insurance, schedules and proposals on renewal business, as required, using computerized system * Perform all actions relating to the public, customers and companies in a manner that will avoid issues involving potential errors and omissions * Adhere to department and agency policies and procedures including utilization of agency’s automation system
Ideal Candidate
* 2-20, 4-40, 20-44 or willingness to obtain * 2+years Personal Lines Account Management experience required * College Degree or equivalent combination of insurance experience/designations preferred * Sagitta Agency Management System, EZLynx and SEMCAT experience preferred * Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism * Must be a self-starter, imaginative and creative with good communication skills, both verbal and written * Should have thorough understanding of personal lines underwriting and coverages * Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with others to explain complex issues, receive and interpret complex information and respond appropriately * Knowledge of rating procedures, coverage, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and write assigned clients and prospect lists * Knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets
