Summary
The Investor Accounting Manager is responsible for managing operations of the Investor Accounting department. Ensures timely and accurate accounting, reporting, and remitting to secondary market investors on a portfolio of 100,000+ loans with principal balances in excess of $14 billion; responsible for accounts payable posting. Responsible for loan setup and ongoing processing and audits of ARM and special product loans. Certifies that SCRA processing is accurate, timely and meets regulatory guidelines. Oversees reconciliation of investor custodial bank accounts. Ensures processing of mortgage loan assumptions.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for servicing release and transfers; assists in due diligence on servicing acquisitions. Responsible for reconciliation of assigned GL accounts. Solves out of balance conditions pertaining to account reconciliations, investor reporting and remitting. Resolves customer/investor inquiries and complaints. - Manages investor accounting, ARM/Special products, SCRA, assumptions and claim processing functions; determines work priorities; schedules assignments; selects, , trains, and evaluates work performance; recommends additions to staff and other actions. - Responsible for ICAP expense accounting; resolves out of balance conditions; prepares reports such as account analysis statistics, progress reports, operating statistics and budget variance explanations, department activities, volume, quality reporting and production reports. - Assists in assigning objectives and developing operating plans, including budgets and manpower requirements. Develops programs to comply with organization requirements and maintains performance standards. Keeps informed of any changes in government regulations. - Identifies, develops, and recommends revision of standards, policies/procedures and programs; provides staff with guidelines; minimizes losses; ensures procedures are consistent with goals and objectives; ensures service level standards are met. - Develops and promotes team environment; works with mortgage departments to explain and enhance services, to improve relations and resolve issues. Receives and responds to problems. - Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and problems. - Reviews/approves investor reports and custodial account reconciliations. - Stays informed on new Investor, State and Federal regulations relating to Investor Accounting, ARMs/Special Products, Assumptions and Claim processing; coordinates and reviews such changes with management.
Ideal Candidate
- Advanced knowledge of FHLMC, FNMA and GNMA reporting and accounting guidelines - Advanced knowledge of investor and agency guidelines with regard to investor reporting and accounting, custodial accounts, ARM/Special products, Assumptions and Claim processing - Thorough knowledge of mortgage loan administration, mortgage loan sales and mortgage banking policies and procedures - Thorough knowledge of company policy and regulatory guidelines related to departmental processes - Thorough knowledge of mortgage loan documentation procedures - Excellent PC and mortgage software systems skills - Excellent communication skills, both oral and written - Excellent supervisory skills; ability to motivate employees to work as a team - Excellent analytical problem solving skills * This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field and 8-10 years experience in investor accounting and 4-5 years direct supervisory experience or equivalent work related experience in investor accounting of 13-15 years.
